I have a Morman church not far from my home. The member often walk around my neighbor hood and try to get people to come to the church. My question is...why are they so pushy? Even after I've told them no, they keep coming back "just to make sure".

Because in the eyes of some people you really arent' one with god unless you're in their religion and in their church. If you don't belong to them, then you are a sinner and are going to hell. I had the same thing happen, and they kept saying it was demons not letting me go to their church, that i had demons. I said yes i do and they are going to make me kick your ***. They left me alone after that.

Mormons aren't any pushier than Jehovah's Witnesses or any other kind of evangelical or prosletyzing group. And, so far, the Mormon missionaries that have come to our door haven't returned.

Are the Mormons that come to your house the exact, same people every time? If that's the case, then perhaps you need to decline them a little more firmly next time.

If they are different people each time, then here's the deal: young Mormons are required to spend two years of their life on a mission. So, they are sent to a different town, typically in a different state and/or country, to profess and promote Mormonism. These young missionaries will be hosted by the local Mormon church. Now, given that your home is near a Mormon church and that these young missionaries almost certainly do not know their way around your area...your home is an easy mark just because it is so close to a Mormon church.

It would be better if you don't take offense, and everytime another set of missionaries comes to your house, just say, "I respect your right to believe what you believe, but I am not interested in talking with you." Then close your door.

As long as you live so close to the Mormon church, you will probably always get missionaries from time to time, just because your home is conveniently located. If it bothers you more than you can stand, the only real solutions are either put up a fence and keep your gate locked at all times or move someplace further away from the Mormon church.

Unfortunately that will keep happen. Tha't how they function, that's how they hope to make more adepts. They put a lot of effort towards prozelitizing their cult. They train their youth and all of them must do a year or so of prozelitizing somewhere in the world. By definition they are very pushy, and they became even pushier lately. The reason is that they are losing adepts rapidly. Their own people start to open their minds and resist to the brain-washing they try to do. People understand that the whole thing is a very artificial religious concept.
In my own experience I did encounter them a few times in different places I used to live in. For me it wasn't actually difficult to get rid of them because I'm a Baha'i, I know a lot about religion in general and I start asking them questions. At that point they get really embarrased and scared and they don't come back. Their religious training is very limited and as soon as you start asking them pertinent questions they lose it. Except repeating quotes from their interpretation of the Bible, they cannot go into any kind of analytical thinking.

Jesus commanded his disciples to take the gospel into all the world. Mormons are just trying to keep the commandments of Jesus.

Look at it this way. Suppose your neighbors knew that a big storm was coming and they tried to warn you so that you could prepare. They might seem a little pushy, but they are only trying to help because they feel a genuine concern for your welfare. Better to appear a little pushy then have you say, after your home was destroyed, "Why didn't anyone warn me?"

Mormons are very pushy. They believe that it is their right to try to convert people. Personally, I know several Mormons and some of my closest friends are Mormons and they know that I do not believe the same way they do. The "book of Mormon" is kind of like a slap in the face to God. It is saying that the Bible just wasn't good enough.

In the Mormon religion, the "elders" HAVE to minister or they dont reach the desired "tier" in heaven. Mormons feel that they can raise themselves up to the same level as Christ, which is a bunch of podunk.

Post a sign on your door that says "NO MORMONS PLEASE" and they should leave you alone. If they do not, call the church and tell the minister that you are being harassed and you do not want it to continue. If they persist, file a harassment complaint with the local police dept.

Well, some faiths believe that you have to 'earn' your way to heaven. They are motivated by the teachings of their elders in the church. It's really sad, because they are constantly working for acceptance and salvation. That's not what my beliefs are.

"This little light of mine, I'm going to let it shine..." Is a song referring to a parable in the bible. Once a person becomes born again, and is filled with the Holy Spirit, they gain joy and understanding about God's word. It's pretty difficult not to have that joy emulate from inside and light up your entire countenance so others see a change in you. Often, people who don't even know you personally are drawn to you because of the joy and love you have acquired from the baptisim of the Holy Spirit.

Often, as people get to know you, they are curious about your joy and peace. It's nothing anyone has to sell, if it's the real thing. Jesus is the real thing and he gives us life in abundance. We are joyful because we know that God first loved us before we were aware of Him.

Man, though, like the tax collector in the bible, often lets greed lead a person. It's through acknowledgment of Christ and the transformation in faith, we are able to repent and find this joy. If people ask questions, we gladly answer because someone once took time to explain everything to us. I'm thankful for the woman who took time to tell me about Jesus and His love for me.

Now, I know, that I will once more see my family and friends in heaven. I know that I live in eternity now. I know that although man may steal my body, he can never touch my soul. I belong to the King of Kings.

Being born again, or understanding the Word of God is spiritual. No man can logically come to grips on the bible. You have to take a step of Faith. Hope you do one day. It will change your life for the better, no matter how wonderful your life is now.

I can understand, my brother is morman and I am not, I am still a Christian, but he isn't satisfied because I am not morman. He is always pushing it, some religions are based on the teachings of a man, rather than God. This makes a difference too. I still love him, but we had to come to terms about our different religions, and I told him, look I won't pushing my religion on you and you don't push yours on me. This worked quite well.

Hi, I am a Mormon, I understand how they can come across as pushy, Mormons just really want to share their beliefs. They are very excited about sharing what they believe and believe that it is their responsibility, they will be nice to you, but you don't have to listen to them if you don't want to. Their intentions are good! but I can definitely see where you are coming from. If you are not interested just tell them, but I can tell you that If you invite them in are attend their meetings you will find that they mean you no harm and they are very friendly.

Evangelism is a major tenant of Christianity. It's a Christian's belief that God's will is being done by spreading the word and recruiting, so to speak.

Ideally, the motive is to "help" you see the truth, enter the Kingdom or blah, blah... you know.

That's how they are at times. I wouldn't' let them bother you and maybe you just have to get stern and tell them that you are not interested in what they are selling. I have to do that all the time with telemarketers. Just do it nicely.
