When God said let us make man in our image, he was referring to the trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is a spirit, therefore he does not look like us. When it says we were created in his image, it means we have a mind and can think, and create things. This is why animals are not in God's image, can they create things? Nope. Before Adam and Eve sinned, we were also created perfect, but that is not so anymore.

When God created Man, He had already created ALL the Heavenly Beings that He had imagined to surround Him Self with in the first place...

Then He filled up the Earth with Life. All kinds of life. And God's final coup de grace of His Creation on Earth was MAN.

"Image" is captured in many levels of our understanding, be they PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, and SPIRITUAL in nature. Man's myopic short-sightedness is primarily focused on, and limited to, the physical or worldly plane that he experiences through his five senses.

More often than not, because of the plethora of worldly events and circumstances surrounding Man, he either forgets or glosses over the Emotional and Spiritual aspects of his Being that are also intrinsic within him.

Man was also given the emotional and mental capacities of Love, Compassion, Joy, Creativity, Humor, Intellect [Knowledge], and Understanding [Wisdom]... that He DIDN'T GIVE to ANY OTHER CREATURE on Earth.

And best of all, God breathed into Man the Mysteries of His Own Spirit...

Peace be with you!

We are that part of God made flesh....there fore we are the sum total of all His attributes. If we choose that which is good and right then we are God...if we choose things which are evil and bad we are still God that is becasue we have the power to his will which is....to create be it good or bad.

Jesus was an actualized spirit...he taught us to do the same..some religions don't tell us all we would like to know becasue they are afraid to lose power, fame and of course the money.

Some suggested reading incudes: conversations with God, The Mark Series and the celestine prophecy.

Good luck

Contrary to revisionists, Judiaism did not start out poly-theistic. One of the gret aspects of early Jews is precicesly their commitment to Mono-theisism and a God seperated from nature, rather than defined by nature.

You could say it is the trinity, or perhaps the angels that god speaks with.

In the begining there was the word, and the word was with God. Jesus, and the holy spirit.

We look like God, because we were created in his image.

Purely personal opinion: Michael the Arcangel, who later came to earth as the Christ. God is described anthropomorphically to help us understand his characteristics. For instance, hair "white like wool" to highlight his age and wisdom. We are in his image in that we have, in limited degree, some of his cardinal traits: love, wisdom, justice, etc. Also, unlike animals bound by instinctive behavior, and planets governed by immutable laws, humans have free will. We can choose what course we will pursue. Again, purely subjective--I don't want to offend anyone here.

...the other gods of course.

Judaism started off as a polytheistic religion. Traces of that heritage are still found in the Old Testament.

Father,Son and Holy Ghost; Its not as confusing as it appears-We have Id ego-super ego,in our mental make-up,and We are made by GOD in his likeness,so--Likeness,does not mean total replication-more a basic resemblance
