Hey, I am a Police Officer and have been for the last 19 years.
Past drug usage will not stop you from becoming a Police Officer. As long as you disclose your usage when asked, you will be fine. If you have any in your past, they will find out during the background check. So, just be honest. If you have any further questions, e-mail me and I will help if I can.
Good luck.

No this is not true. It is however something that you don't lie about on your application and you will be asked during your interview. If you are still abusing drugs now don't worry about applying however if it is like you say and you have not used in years you should be alright. An example of this is the Alaskan state police. You have to have not used any illicit drugs in the past ten years to be considered for employment. Sounds to me like you had your wild younger days and have grown up and decided to get on to better things. Good luck from a Police Officer

It depends if it is on record. How long it has been since you used or got into trouble. and wheter or not you went to collage.
I think it is like 5 or 7 years since doing drugs or commiting a crime.
My brother has a pretty big police report and wants to be a cop and actually asked one who was writting him a ticket how to go about doing it. The response was "stop getting into trouble and go to college and we will talk in a few years."

No that is not correct. You can become a police officer. Just not if you were convicted of a drug charge. .

NO, There are many cops that have done drugs in the past and some other things also. Also laws are not always the same. What was illegal today may be legal tomorrow. Persue your dreams and live your life like you want.

A vast number of people tried and/or experimented with illegal drugs in their youth (or beyond). That should not be a stumbling block for you. If that were their actual rule, they'd have a MUCH smaller pool of candidates to choose from.

I don't think so...as long as you can pass a current drug test, you will be fine. There's no need to tell them....all the drugs are out of your system, they will never know.

Yes you don't need to tell them. Don't be fooled everyone has experiemented with something. You sound as though it was a long time ago and will never do it again...so you have nothing to worry about. Be a cop
