I really hope so, because it would mean that more people are thinking and accepting responsibility for their actions. Religion is a crutch for those who are not introspective - it must be a great feeling to believe in an imaginary friend who is looking down on everyone, and has your back. Most people who are intelligent are able to see the dangers in religion.

I wish that more people would be open minded and secure enough to question things, and not just go along with something because religion says that's the way to do it.

After the books like Da Vinci Code and the ability to study other religions I'd say that a lot of people started to doubt organized religion. At the same time I thinkt that most even not religious people believe in existance of 'higher power' and in 'doing the right thing'. I know many people who may be are not religious but are very spiritual, so I guess to each his own as long as we all want to try to be a better person every day :)

Just because someone is a "non-believer" it does not mean they are without morals or ethics. I think people are moving away from the more mainstream traditions because of the behavior of some churches. I do not think the bible teaches love all except for those different from you. I really do not think society is going to be negatively affected by the shift.

I don't think that the world is necessarily moving away from religion as much as moving toward alternative faiths, such as Scientology, Light-working, Buddhism, etc. I believe that many are questioning the standard moralistic values that society as taken on as the 'normal' way of being spiritual, and looking for answers that suit an alternative lifestyle. Many have grown tired of being told what to believe, and wish to choose their own paths.

moving away from religion and towards spirituality. right now whats going on is a polarization between traditionalism and creativity.

You can take that any way you want but i feel change is a good thing. I dont want another Dark Age run by the churches of the world do you?

When your speech is cut short because you thanked God for your talents, I would say that is a sign that we are moving away from religion.

This affects society because moral values are based on religion. Without any, there would be no moral values, thus no moral laws, thus chaotic society.

I sure hope so. You don't hear about atheists running into a crowd of people with a belt made out of dynamite. The world will be a better place without religion.

I certainly hope so. The vast majority of evils, wars etc on this earth are the result of religious bigottry. The world will be a far more pleasant place without religion.
