Yesterday i was suppose to go to my x house to pick up my clothes, she did a disappearing act yesterday and never return my calls. calls me this morning to tell me something happen to her mother but she was very vague with the information (which she is a talker) but she told me to come and pick up my stuff she will leave it with the bell boy in case she is not here. i noticed she always comes out with dramatic stories before to get my attention but i dont know if this one is true
what should i think about this situation

should i ask her to meet for lunch

If you guys were close friends and cared for each others families I don't see the harm in asking if her mother is doing ok ... just because you broke up doesn't mean you have to act inhumane.
I would pick up the clothes from the bell boy if she's not there and give her a call ( message if she doesn't answer ) letting her know you got your stuff ( say thank you .. it's the polite thing to do ) and maybe ask if her mom is doing alright !
If something is wrong with her mom don't let her suck you into her emotions ... just tell her something like
"I know we're not together anymore but I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about your mother and hope everything turns out fine"
That should do the trick .. !

In my opinion, since I've been divorced, I feel less stressful and I think it is better to just let it go. I feel that we try to hold on and hope that things will change, but most of the times, it don't.
Sounds like a game is being played to me. If something is wrong with her mom, i'm sure you will eventually hear about it. Pick up your things from the bellboy, and end it there! Don't torture yourself, or make yourself feel worse than you already do. Please don't ask her out for lunch, an X is just that!
If you have to, take a friend with you if you think you are not strong enough to handle it. You sound like you know her pretty good, and since you do, use that as your warning!
When my final court day came, and it was officially over, I told him to "Take care of himself" and that was it! Just being free from all the stress will do you both some good. May not seem that way now, but trust me, it will get better!

Say as little as you can ...if she wants more from you...let her drop hints..but ignore them...give her reason to come up with something more inviting and rewarding and decide then if you want any part of it ..games will be played ...sometimes picking clothes up and not looking back is easier on the heart strings.

Why would u invite her to lunch?? There's obviously a reason you guys broke up.. Say you're sorry to hear about her mother that it's understandable that she wasn't there and just go get your clothes. Maybe she's vague because you're her EX.. people don't like talking to their exes about things or maybe whatever happened to her mom is really upsetting to her.. or maybe its something her mom doesnt want a lot of people knowing about.. don't be so nosy.. go get your stuff and leave it be. If it was something you needed to know, you'd know it.

No, do not have lunch with her. Tell her what time you will be by to get your clothes and she or that bellboy better be there to let you in because you'd really hate to have to sue her for the value of your clothes.
