They do if you follow the regimen. What's especially good about them is that they give you the vitamins and minerals that you miss by dieting (not eating enough) so you don't get sick or unhealthy.

Yes,the optima plan is great! Amazingly keeps you full for a 4 hours at least. I was amazed, (being a fluffy lady), I've tried Weight Watchers, Jenny Craig, 24-hour fitness (2 yrs), and now I am finally losing weight, I have lost about 15 pounds this past month; and it has been almost effortless. Keyword:ALMOST. You still have to watch what you eat. I eat an optima meal bar for breakfast with a piece of fruit and a cup of coffee. For lunch I will have a slim-fast shake or meal bar with a green salad, or a mini-meal. A piece of fruit in the afternoon and a very small dinner (real food). I have to admit I have cheated a bit, a piece of candy here and there, a bag of Cheetos, a piece of strawberry pie. Imagine, my loss would probably be greater if I hadn't cheated, but I did still lose the weight.
The down-side, too much slim-fast can have a laxative effect. The first 2-3 weeks I was constantly having to go, I had terrible stomach cramping, but now my body has adjusted and I am great! Just an occasional stomach ache, I just ignore it, I would rather be thinner, It's swimsuit and short season! worth the pain!

It will if you follow their instructions. It's basically a reduced-calorie program that you don't have to count. I like that you get protein and fiber in the shakes, so even though I am not on the diet I drink the shakes here and there for breakfast on the go or for a snack. I like the Chocolate flavors and the Peanut Butter Crunch bars are the bomb-they taste like butterfingers.
As with any reduced calories diet you have to slowly reintroduce things back into your diet if you ever stop-that way you won't balloon up and gain weight - of course if you eat cookies and chips all day you'll gain the weight back anyway...

Losing weight and gaining weight...They can work both ways...if you were to eat and drink that it'd equivalent to two meals...so you have to be very careful on that kind of diet

No-too much sugar. And their nutients are synthetic,so the absorbtion is low.
Food substitutes dont help you lose weight, because you need real food to be at your real weight, which is natuarally thin.
Best advice: No flour,no sugar,no fruit.
I'm on the Low-fill diet.Vegetables till dinner,1 real low-carb dinner meal.gallon of water with added chrolophyll.

Only if you believe in it!
I tried it once and gained weight!
Try to cut out of your diet some, reduce food, eat fresh, fruits and vegetables, exercise, sleep well, and be happy!
