We replaced the DVD player and we are still having the exact same problem. It happens the moment we play a DVD. There are blue lines runnng through the picture. They seem to clear up over the course of a movie and by the end are hardly noticeable.

There are 2 inputs (or more) to your TV set. 1 the "cable" input and another set that are RCA (like silver jacks comming out of the back of the tv) , and HOPEFULLY a 3rd one that is called S-video (looks like a round hole with a whole bunch of little holes inside it). What is wrong is that the input section ON THE TV for your RCA jacks has gone bad so you should input the VIDEO ONLY through the Svideo (if there is one on the TV) You will need to get an S-video cord (Radio Shack) and when you watch DVD you will need to set the TV input to S video (the picture by the way will be really really sharp) but that will solve your problem. If you dont have a Svideo input on the tv you can buy a DVD to cable box (about 15.00 at Radoi shack) and then your DVD will input on the cable input (broadcasting on chanel 3 or 4) but your quality will be 10 times better with Svideo! Sounds like the DVD players are picking up some type of electrical interferance. If possible move either TV or DVD player further away, you may need longer cables and extention cord.

Check the cable going from the tv to the player itself. It is possible that its defective. And it is cheap enough and easy enough to replace and it will at least rule that part out and go from there. I dont think that it matters how close the 2 units are to one another. Mine are very close and dont show that problem.

Buy new connection cables. They sound like they might be bad and aren't getting the right connection.
