Broke up a year ago and he still texts on and off, he wasnt ready for committment blah blah blah, hadnt heard from him in a month (kinda exchanged words last time) until this morning. what does he want from me?

He's probably between realtionships or maybe even in a bad one and needs a bit of fresh air away from the four corners he's built around himself. I'd bet he was happy your message came on, I think he would have probably hung up if you had answered. My bet is, he'll call again and maybe even want to see you. At the least, to open lines of communication. Probably misses having you in his life, there is probably a void where you used to be and he doesn't want that void there.
Is it too painful for you to remain friends with him?

He wants to keep in touch so if he should change his mind down the line, your an option. You should not converse with him anymore. Why let him keep you on the side ? If he doesn't want you now then he needs to move on.

i think he wants to get back with you because in the text he is saying that he was afraid because he didnt know how youu would respond. so my thing is look over all the things yall did in the past (good and bad) and asj your slef if he is worthy of you

I think he is stringing you along.
Keeping you on the back burner in case whoever he is with now doesn't work out.
He's playing you.
Just a variation of the "lets stay friends" deception.

He's lonely and probably just wants to hook up. He may also be looking into what you're up to so he can see if you're better off than he is. Do yourself a favor and block his number.

I'd be careful with that. He may want you back, or he may be reverting back to someone who was "safe and predictable" until something else comes along. I'd say if it's really over, keep it that way.

Hw wants you back...you should take his words. The guy will wants you to talk to him. He must have strong feelings for you. Why can't you talk to him. It won't hurt.....Give the guy a chance. I mean It does take alot for a guy to keep steady on one gurl even when she won't even talk to you. thats makes him want you even more....

nothing you can talk if you want but i assume he's an ex for a reason and sometimes guys don't relize what they have till it's gone and amonth later they want to remember
