Nope, not at all [ and don't let people make you feel guilty for not answering].

Not at all. You don't have to answer the phone just because it's there. If you don't feel like talking to anyone on a particular day or time, you have all the right not to answer it. However, do let your loved ones know that you are fine or they will worry about you and wonder why you didn't or couldn't pick up the phone.

No it isn't. It all depends on your mood or what you're doing. Funny, just before I found your question my phone rang, I checked, it was my best friend & I let it ring. Why? Because when we get on the phone we can chat for hours, her end mostly, & I knew that if I answered even to say I was busy, she won't let me get away. There are times I answer to tell the person I will call them back & other times I just leave it. Depending on who it was I can tell them I was here & just didn't answer.

Hey, I don't always answer my phone. It's my perogative to answer or not. Maybe I want to be left alone. Maybe I'm going potty and I'm not going to stop and run to the phone with my pants around my ankles. No phone in the bathroom either.
Some people (my husband) think its rude because they expect you to answer the phone... whatever(eyes roll).

No. You could be busy or just don't want to talk. If that is the case, I would put the phone on vibrate though, 'cuz you know how some people don't get the hint and call you over and over and over....

IMO, one has no obligation to answer a ringing phone; just as one has the choice of answering a knock on the door.

You are NOT obligated to answer the phone just because it rings. And that goes for lots of things in life. Just because someone else is demanding something doesn't mean it's your problem.
That's why God invented voicemail.

No. In todays world we tend to think that a ringing phone MUST be answered. There is no law whichsays you must, or any ettiquette which says you should.

Don't answer if you don't want to. The idea that we should be reachable 24/7 is wrong, in my opinion.
You're not making the call, someone else is.

Absolutely! If you don't answer the phone every time it rings after exactly two rings you will certainly burn in eternity!

Personally... NO! Your phone is for YOUR convenience. Think of the time before cell phones... if you didn't answer your phone people assumed that you are not home!
