I'm in love with kitties!!! -But my boyfriend is not... lol He says the hair irritates his allergies too much. Does anyone know of a breed of cat that doesn't shed to much? (Besides the bald ones! lol)

First of all, you need to get rid of the boyfriend! Send him back for reprogramming because he's faulty! LOL! Just kidding.

My mom has a Tonkinese and both of them have really, really short hair that's close to the skin. They shed, but they shed very little. It's a fantastic breed too. They are unbelievably friendly and outgoing.

But back to the boyfriend...I have 2 favorite bumper stickers:

Love Me; Love My Cat!
My husband and kids were allergic to my cat. I miss them sometimes!

Tell your boyfriend to go and get some allergy shots. My cousin's husband got them for a couple of years after they got married and now he's built up his own immunity to cat allergies and doesn't need the shots anymore. Like I said...get him reprogrammed! Good luck! :-)

It's actually not the hair that causes allergies. It's the dander. Most short hair cats shed less, but you have to keep any cat (except the Mexican hairless) groomed regularly to keep down the shedding.

No matter what kind of cat that you get it will still shed. What he is allergic to is probably the pet dander. Good Luck giving a cat a bath. I would recommend something with short hair and and female. It's been proved that male cats shed more than females do. Try this kind. I think it's called a Balinese.

They all shed. You get rid of the cat hair around the home by dusting and vacuuming regularly. Brushing the cat helps too.

I have a Russian Blue who sheds very little, but the secret to this is grooming and diet. With vitamins and daily brushings, any cat is beautiful.

And tell your boyfriend to take allergy tabs. Cats rule.

Actually, it wouldn't be the hair that irritates his allergies, but the dander, which all cats produce whether they're hairless or not. (Get rid of the boyfriend and get whatever cat your heart desires!)

A Cornish Rex.

Do a yahoo search on them, they have hair, and my dad is allergic too, he isn't allergic to a Cornish Rex!!They might seem a little ugly at first, but if you see one every day, you will think a normal cat looks weirder!
