Chis can swim but they may not LIKE to. I have found many small dogs dislike the water. My pomeranian will only swim if I'm in the water, and at that it only swims to catch up to me, then climbs on top of me to get out of the water x_X

Keep an eye on your dog if its around large areas of water though, even if it can swim doesn't mean it can't still drown easily.

All dogs can swim. Some don't want to. Some might not be strong enough to swim long. But they can all swim. Most animals can. Even cats.

I use to be under the impression that all dogs can swim. However, that is not true. So never assume all dogs can swim or have the desire to do so. As people, dogs have their own personalities as well as likes and dislikes.

Chihuahuas can swim just fine, but great Danes tend to have more difficulty swimming.

Like you. You got to teach them but they catch on much faster then most humans.

Bigger dogs tend to swim easier.
