My pug gets VERY overheated when it's warm out and now that temperatures are reaching near the 100's, I was wondering if anyone knew of a way to keep my dog cool, without having to drench him in water 24/7.

I should add, for those who think I'm a dog abuser, that my dog is ALWAYS inside. Pugs can't be outside in extreme hot or cold weather.

well, unless you are going to keep him in cool water all the time, like in a little pool or some sort of sprinkler, you probably shouldnt be drenching him in water every once in awhile. when the water warms up on him it will cause him to get more hot and sweaty and that could make things worse... i would keep him inside, or if you want to keep him outside make sure you have a bowl of water outside at all times with you and maybe use a sprinkler or something else to cool him off.

Pugs becasue of the shape of their faces do not cool very well. You should be keeping this dog in the house in the air conditioning.
Pugs just can not pant like other dogs and there fore can not cool themselves as well.

The natural way that dogs stay cool is to dig a hole. I let my dog dig a large hole (almost a tunnel) in the back yard. Underground it is much cooler than above ground. I actually went down into the hole one time (yes, it is that deep) and it was about seventy degrees down there.

create a cool zone.
somewhere very well shaded and has a gentle airflow.
try to make it at least four times the size of your dog.

keep him inside where the air conditioner is or maybe put him a little kiddie pool in the back yard so that he may get in or out as he wishes.

a fan could help too. Make sure he has enough water to drink and hopefully all his shots are up yo date, specially the parvo shot.
