This seems to me to be an 'ultimate' sort of a book from an 'enlightened' person. I know it has been translated into many languages and there is high appreciation from the people 'connecting' to the book. The contents are not a mere story or a theory but real stuff as I understood them from my life long search. It will be wonderful to hear real (and not shallow) comments. Thanks

Hello. It's a book that "finds" the person when the person is ready for what he is pointing towards. Due to it's popularity and it somehow falling into the mainstream society you will see a lot of people thinking it's a self-help book or some new fad. What Eckhart is saying is his "own" experience(that's the wrong use of words but what the hey) but he is telling a truth that has been told throughout the ages by the few who woke up. He's just telling it with his own flavor. I think the book is profound and it seems people are getting caught up on the character of the author or the finger instead of looking where the finger is pointing to. There is nothing to believe or follow in there. It's like he found something and he's saying "don't believe me or even consider me, just try it for yourself and see." It's a beautiful and profound book that has the power to change lives. Thanks for the question! I agree with you about it. It blew my mind when I read it for the first time. I think it either rings true for someone or it doesn't. Everybody is different....but it seems to be reaching a lot of people. Have you read his latest book "A new earth" ?

Prior to the popularity of this particular book...have you seen The Power of Positive Thought? These self-empowerment type of books have been around for a long time.

To me it read a little like Zen on steroids - which is a spooky thought. I'd only recommend it to a VERY mature audience. Even then, it would be for the sake of discussion comparing this with the other "here is the way" theses.
