No, you need to get an International Driver's Permit. Cost is $10 at any AAA office. Good for 1 year.

Your license is all you need.

There is no such thing as an international drivers license.

Your drivers license is the one issued your YOUR state, and you need that in order to drive anywhere.

There is an international drivers permit (IDP) which is a translation of your license in half a dozen languages. It can be useful if you need to show your license in a country that does not understand the language of your license, but the IDP on its own is not a legal authority to drive .

If you are thinking of renting a car in a foreign country then it is wise to check the car rental website to see what their requirements are.

But you posted this in the UK travel section and a US license is all you need in the UK.

If you intend driving in Europe it is also wise to first check with the car rental agency whether you can cross international borders and if so, which ones.

Not everywhere in Europe. You can use a US driving license in the United Kingdom, Germany and France, but you'll have to find out about any other countries you want to visit.

Its in your best interests as far as insurance coverage etc. that you research each place you are going into regardless of the "European" coverage thing. If you were in an accident whether you were at fault or not, your coverage might be affected on a technicality. Personally I don't think its worth it!

Enjoy your travels! Be safe!

Drove all over UK and Spain with US license. They rented me cars no problem so I assume it's OK.
