I think there's no pat rule here. Given that some women can go months without even knowing they are pregnant (and yes..some have delivered not even knowing they were pregnant), than clearly not everyone has an obvious sign.
For me, with a couple of my pregnancies, I had an achy feeling in my pelvis, sort of like mild mentrual cramps or a bladder infection, only my period didn't come.
I think for most women it's the absense of a period, though a small percentage of women still have some period!
I would say that if you are having normal periods, odds are that you aren't pregnant. If you're more than 2 weeks late, take a test and/or see your doctor.
If you're that late and still no positive test, definitely check with your doctor.

Yup. Not getting your period. I'm a very normal person and always get it at the same time every month. Especially, since I was on the pill. Being on the pill will let you know. I didn't get my period when i usually did and just thought it was stress. I should have known better. I had this really bad cramp. It felt like my period was on its way, but it was actually the egg embedding itself in my uterus. It was awful. Take a test. I took three. The first two came out inconclusive and the third one came out positive! It was a shock! I guess that is why they say birth control is only 99.9% effective.
