You would probably have to get a degree in Animal Sciences or Zoology first. You could then study animal psychology in a masters program. Here is a website with some information.

research, atm the market is not that great. I would suggest getting a BA in cognitive psych and then specializing into animal behaviors. Allot of the work you will be doing will involve studing the effects animals have on humans and how to improve the interactions between them. It is a very very very interesting field and although the job market is not that great it is definitly a very interesting field. ( i am aware that i double stated interesting, its beacuse it is!)
