Counterpoint from the BBC, 1967: A sitcom called "Never Mind The Quality, Feel The Width". Way ahead of their time, as ever. This could be a subtitle for the debates and speechifying we've seen on both sides of the DMZ in American politics in recent years. As a corollary, I'll add this, put in the mouth of Law and Order's D.A.ironically played by Fred Thompson, a former Congressman and Presidential candidate in real life: "When these people use the word "integrity", what they really mean is money."

I'm not really sure if a good man does exist. But its a perception in our mind of whats good and bad about a person that helps us determine who's a good man for us. It has to do with each individual's idea of what a good man is. I say this because women do not all think alike, therefore we can never come up with the same ideas. I guess the human individualism comes out here especially. For me though a good man is one who's confident in himself, knows what he's about and what he wants in life also that he makes decisions and choices that reflect his actions. This often shows me what kind of character a man is and whether he can compliment my character or not.

Let's leave the "one worthy of marrying" part out of the equation.
A good man is one who is intelligent and able to communicate. He is honest, has integrity, and is of strong moral character. A good man is financially responsible. He is kind and gentle and caring. He has a good sense of humor. A good man is aware of the world around him and is not self-absorbed. He is self-confident and self-aware. A good man is mature and loving.

Honest, caring, loyal. Someone who is selfless enough to want to work to make the other person happy, but who is outspoken enough to say "this is what I need from this relationship", as well. A good communicator. A man that is not afraid to sometimes show his emotions, and doesn't mind if his woman does.

I suggest the following criteria.
A man worthy of marriage would be:
1. one whose morals are similar to yours.
2. one who makes you feel like the most special woman in the world
3. one who you can trust and feel comfortable with
4. one who's financial priorities are similar to yours (i.e. he doesn't mooch off your money)
5. one who's religion is one that you can live with, it's best to be of the same religion but many religions can be compatible depending on the couple
6. one who has life's goals that are compatable to yours (i.e. do you want children? do you want to travel the world? do you have aspirations for a successful career?)
7. one who you love so much, that his faults don't matter
8 one who you think about, even when you're not with him
9. one who at least respects your family and friends. Your best friends don't have to be his best friends, but he should treat all of the people you love with respect.
10. The most important thing of all - one that you love with all of your heart.

A good man is one who loves you for the inside and realizes you are more than just a physical body. Where is this mythical creature? I need to know.

An honest, loyal, fair man. A man who speaks from his heart and not from his lips. A man who can laugh and also a man who can cry.
