Take a close look at memory and then compare it to dreams. After waking up from a dream, you now have it in your head as a memory. What would make your dream any different from what you consider your actual reality? Both are just as real now that they are memories. They were both experiences. Even if you appear to have died in your dreams, it doesn't necessarily mean that you're dead. Maybe there is no death and dreams point that out to you. We base everything on what we call our "waking state" and it dulls our other realities. You give them much less credit and chalk them up to something to talk about or repress.
The answer is, Our dreams are DEFINITELY an alternate reality in which we exist. If it produces memories, it's an experience. It happened. Reality doesn't have to manifest in only your physical state. Isn't it your brain and nerves that tell you that you're running or jumping, breathing or holding your breath, being hit or laying down? If you had no nerves, you'd have a totally different grasp on reality and your dreams would slide in and out as a much more dominant force (than they currently do).

From what I have read it is a state of consciousness that is directly related to you "awake life". A sleep induced inventory of what is going on in both your current events and events of the past/future that are either unresolved or a source of worry/anticipation. Which would explain why you see people you know, situations you have been in. Your subconcious mind is processing even as you sleep. Think of it as a computer that you can't turn off that is constantly searching the internet for explanations to your thoughts, fears, hopes, wants, etc. I hope this helped.

It's you. Nobody else sneaks into your bed when you dream. If you suspect that, keep a shotgun handy. You may want to use it on the guy sneaking in - - - or maybe on your wife.
Dreams are just that - - - - dreams. Once you wake up, the dream has no meaning at all, except in the minds of superstitious people.

Gee, I hope so, Sometimes I hang out with Johnny Depp. That would be cool if my alternate self is actually a friend of his. But, I have had a few dreams that I think would be impossible in any reality, so, I don't think so. but it's a cool theory. My Favorite alternative theory is that all angelic encounters and ancient gods were inspired by ancient alien visitors. IE... Ezekiel's wheel
(think about it)

No, remeber what happened to those who dreamed in the Bible, they were not walking in another reality they had a dream that usually was a message from God, usually a warning. Dreams are our minds ability to construct images during sleep, the subconscious mind is active all the time. However, as i said sometimes it might be a message or warning from God or the devil.

Very possible!!! I believe that dreams are two types of experiences. One is that dreams are our subconscious dealing with the challenges posed in the physical world/reality. Two~ dreams are our lives in an alternate reality. I believe dreams fluctuate between these two experiences & are both.

Look up the definition for a psychotic episode. You will see that it fits your dream-state.
Dreaming you don't remember your wake self but awake you do remember your dream self. I therefore would not call my wake-state the dream.
I can not really deny there is a possibility there is a different dimension to be visited when you dream but... when you dream you are nuts so who believes you anyway?

total rubbish. dreams that we see are memories in our brains nothing else. even when we sleep few of our body parts like heart lungs etc keep working non-stop. brain is aslo one such organ which actually remains functioning even when we sleep. the proof of which is that we wake up on hearing diturbing noises, feeling movements around us( our sense organs sense them n send signls to our brain which in return help us open our eyes to check out what's happening) etc.
dreams r yet to be properly defined, but are generaly (scientifically i.e.) said to be flashes of memories and unconsious thoughts that are stored in our brain. many times however we dream of thing we wont even have as such thought of with our concious mind and we cant give any explanation as to why we saw that perticular dream. the answer to this question is still to be found as even today man's brain and it's capacities has't been fully evaluated.
p.s : had your explanation of a dream been corect, we'd never have had what is known as a peacefull dreamless sleep!
