I've heard that they can live up to 10 or more years. as for the pension plan, well, he is still to young for that so, at this time he does not qualify. but enjoy your budgie each day and when he becomes older, don't put him in a budgie old birds home. 8o)

Healthy budgies live at least 10 years and possibly 12.

Some live 15-20 years,but unfortunately most suffer with tumours between the ages of seven -nine yrs.Tumours in Budgies are very common indeed.

Budgies,if well-cared for can live up to 15 years.Most don't last though;because of owner-related issues(giving them a seed-only diet,not giving them exercise time),many budgies die at 5 years.People who know birds well fare a lot better.My oldest budgie died of old age at 11;unfortunately he didn't qualify for a pension plan...I wish he had!
