Not just red, but in the US, wearing bold colors to a funeral is a sign of disrespect.

Wow! I went to a funeral where we asked to NOT wear black but bright colours! And why? Because when someone dies you celebrate the life they lived and how wonderful they were, so it would depend on things like that.

Can't remember 6th Sense anymore, but I can tell you that 100yrs ago, black was not worn to funerals and white was not worn on wedding days, either. It's only recently that all this came into being.

well some say that you did't care for that person or it was a different kind of relationship or it just does'nt look good because you would be the center of attraction everyone would be talking about you instead of the funeral

It goes against the social code, which says that wearing red shows disrespect to the dead -- in Western cultures anyway.

You're not that unhappy to see the other one go, or sometimes if it was the deceased's favorite color, that's ok. My great-grandma wore red to my great-grandpa's funeral, but it wasn't his favorite color....
