I'll spend two weeks in Paris with my son, who is 11 years old. He's very childish and baby-like; he loves sports, mainly football. I like art, architecture, music and literature. It's our first time there, so I'd like to find out which places are worth visiting for both of us. I don't want him to get bored or too tired and I can't spend more than €500 for free time. Any suggestions?

Probably your son will specially like two places:

Palais Decouverte (I believe it's near Grand Palais and Petit Palais which will attract you with its arts exhibitions) - http://www.palais-decouverte.fr - it's like a science museum (Exploratorium in San Francisco) and Parc La Vilette (http://www.villette.com/) which has everything - science, culture, music etc.

If you are coming from the U.S. - don't go to Euro Disney. I am not saying it's bad, but what's the point? Go to Parc Asterix instead - http://www.parcasterix.fr/ (to get there you go to the airport Charles de Gaulles first and then take a shuttle from there).

Another place that your son will probably like (my son did, and he was 11 at that time) - parc France Miniature (http://www.franceminiature.com/ve/). With your love for architecture you might enjoy it too. Just pick up a day when it's not too hot (or take an umbrella to hide from the sun). You take the RER C train from Paris

You would both probably enjoy taking a ride on the Bateau Mouche, which is the most popular tour boat on the Seine. Go with your son to the Place du Tertre in Montmartre, a lively square with lots of people, street artists, mimes and cafes. There is a carousel at the Butte de Montmartre, which might be a welcome break from site seeing.

You would both probably have fun in some of Paris beautiful gardens. The Luxembourg Gardens or the Tuileries, for example. I have seen kids taking pony rides in "Le Luxembourg" as it is called.

You could also look into renting bikes in the Bois de Bologne or in the gardens at Versailles. If you go to www.chateauversailles.fr and look at the drop down menu for "Young Public" there seems to be activities for young visitors to the chateau.

The Stade de France might host some rugby or soccer matches while you are there. Go to www.stadefrance.fr to look at the events calendar.

As an art lover, my advice would be to make it to some of the more popular sites, such as the Musee d'Orsay, the Louvre or Notre Dame when they open or (on nights when they close later) in the evening. Lines at the Louvre can even make the most mature of adults want to cry=-) and by going at off times, you will minimize frustration.

It is nice that you have two weeks in Paris and will not have to rush. I would say that the key to helping an eleven-year old have fun would be not to try to cram too much into one day. Careful of crowds that push in metro stops (people do occassionally get badly injured when they fall in the tracks) and of pickpockets (keep track of your son's passport for him).

Dining in France is SLOW, and may be frustrating for an eleven-year old, so I would take a few while-you wait snacks.

My oppinion:first of all do a round trip with the open bus(there are 4 lines , you can change in some stations, the 4 lines make a full tour of Paris and you can get in or get off where you want). So you can visit the sportif complex Bercy, the Montmartre with Sacre Coeur, the Eiffel tour, the Louvre, the Place de la Concorde, the Champs Elysees and the Place de l'Etoile(Place Charles de Gaulle). For a whole day spend your time in Euro-Disney land-it will be great for both. Some more suggestions:the modern quartier La Defense,La Villette(the town of future) and Bois de Boulogne(don't miss here La Bagattelle).Bon voyage!

You HAVE to take him to Carnivale! It's free, and it's for kids. He'd also love a boat ride down the Seine, which you would enjoy too because it's entertaining and informative, and you pass a LOT of important sights, like Notre Dame.
All the churches are free- Notre Dame, St. Chapelle, Sacre Ceur. And you HAVE to take him to the Louvre, because there is something there for everyone.
There isn't a kid out there who wouldn't be impressed by Fontainblue, Napoleon's house, or Versailles, or Vaux Le Vitcomte. They are all awesome and amazing- you'll love them for the architecture and gardens, he'll love them for their sheer massize size.
Have SO much fun! Au revoir!

There are many places to see. I like to take my brother, who's 8 years old, to La cité des sciences de La villette, so he can learn and have fun, and so do I. Then you can take your child to Disneyland, geat place, you must see it, you'll both love it. There's also the Tour Eiffel, you can go up, you'll see the whole city from there.Maybe you'll like going to the Musée Grévin. And there are plenty museums, for kids and adults. And take some time to really see Paris, you'll miss something if you don't.

Enjoy your trip

Go to Disney , it's something like 30 euros and bring him to see a soccer match , it's just 10 euros for kids and around 20 for adults.
