No it's not stupid!! Just when she looks your way, say hi to her and if she says hi back then you will know it was just you and that her nose isn't in the air. Then gradually keep speaking to her on a dailt basis til you are ready to ask her that question you have been waiting to do for sometime know.

She probably likes you but doesn't want to show it!!! I bet she would be thrilled inside if you started speaking to her. Just randomly, casualy ask her a question about anything, dont be scared, girls are always happy when a guy speaks to them (even though they may show the opposite, TRUST ME) soon you'll start speaking, she'll open up (errr...not literaly) and soon you'll be friends! And then maybe more?
