Now that 500 weapons of mass destruction (poison gas cylinders) have been found stashed in Iraq, do you think President Bush is owed an apology from everyone who called him a LIAR? The word is that records have been found that will lead them to more stuff.

Wow! Unbelievable! Judging from what I'm reading here, if President Bush issued a statement stating that 1+1=2, the Libs would go nuts and call him a liar.

I don't get it. It's like half the country has forgotten 9-11 and the constant threat of terrorism to America.

I'm a little discouraged to see that nothing more recent than pre-Gulf War munitions were found. We knew (for a long time) about the older stockpiles, some of which probably date back to the Iran-Iraq War.

Either there was no further production, or these weapons have made their way through the unofficial channels.

From the Agence France Presse story this morning:
"A Pentagon official who confirmed the findings said that all the weapons were pre-1991 vintage munitions "in such a degraded state they couldn't be used for what they are designed for."

The official, who asked not to be identified, said most were 155 millimeter artillery projectiles with mustard gas or sarin of varying degrees of potency.

"We're destroying them where we find them in the normal manner," the official said.

In 2004, the US army said it had found a shell containing sarin gas and another shell containing mustard gas, and a Pentagon official said at the time the discovery showed there were likely more. ""

It's alarming and disheartening that you and the other "conservatives" who answered continue to accept the idiocy of our current leadership. 500 WMDs? How many does the US alone have (particularly ones that are much more devasting than poison gas)? Do the comparitively small 500 found now, 3+ years later, justify the deaths of thousands?
