I find it ironic that people bash Jesus so much? I mean back in his time he was practically persecuted for being a rebel and hanging around with rebels (and disliking the high priest and calling them hypocrites). Yet today, no other religion is more widely picked on than His religion? Why not Buddah or Alah? Really, why Jesus?

Bashing the Christian religion is not the same as bashing Jesus.

Jesus made it pretty clear how He felt about corrupt and self-serving religions when he trashed the money-changers.

Unfortunately the various Christian churches that have evolved since then are more closely modelled on those money-changers than on the Man/God who cast them out...

Not even athiests/agnostics really directly bash Jesus - we merely say he was a normal person. I personally believe 100% that he existed, and was a great, kind, loving man (or no one would have wrote about him). At the same time, I believe 100% that he was just a regular human like the rest of us.
He was probably a great man back then, but all this nonsense people made up along the way about him "walking on water" and "parting the seas" and such, has just probably tarnished his reputation a bit - those of us with half a brain know this world is governed by the laws of physics, and some of those "acts" are simply impossible on Earth. So, thanks to the bible, and nonsensical story tellers, Jesus has caught some bad publicity.

Because Christianity is the most popular religion in the world and other religions are jealous and just want more converts to join them. It's simple as that. People do bash Allah and other Islamic stuff, except the Islamic population react with burning embassies, riots, and that drives up oil prices. Remember the cartoons of Mohammed? The Islamic World turned upside down after those pictures, which were funny at the very least. Lol!

In each case, you have to ask: are they picking on Jesus.... or are they picking on Christians?

If they are slandering Jesus, they should fear their Creator. I believe Jesus was a prophet and that all the prophets were pious men. I abhor the slander of the prophets.

If they are picking on christians or muslims or jews..... they first need to be sure that they're not stereotyping an entire group for the action of a few. Some christians are violent and militant. You will find bad people of every walk of life. Some christians are just annoying with their constant arrogant attitude in which they claim to be trying to help people but their actions are actually the opposite and harmful. Christians claim pre-forgiveness for every sin they commit, and some christians take this way too far in justifying having no scruples because "the ends justify the means."

But people have to be treated on an individual basis; this is the intelligent approach.

You made the distinction youself. Nobody bashes Jesus, but lots of people "pick on the religion". That's it right there. The religion and the people that supposedly follow it.

Don't you think it's insulting to Jesus' name for you to say that because people don't like modern American Christians' warped values, that they don't like Jesus? Do you really believe that people like Pat Robertson are Jesus? Why would you say such a thing about Jesus? Don't drag His name down into the mud! ?

because Buddhists don't go around trying to convert the world, dear. there's a certain annoyance factor in christianity. kind of like seeing a jehovah's witness or mormon at the door. (haha)
And why do you say people are "picking on" jesus?
And, by the way, people pick on Allah all the time. It wasn't talked about much here, but over in europe there was a cartoon making fun of allah and the muslims were so mad (not even just pissed at the whole graven image thing either) world war three was almost jumpstarted.

i dont pick on jesus, i pick on the more insane of his followers. lol

I ha vent seen anyone bashing Jesus to be honest, but if they do, I am sure that they just try to offend some Christians (who can be really annoying also) by hitting where it hurts the most. Muslims and Buddhists dont go around preaching and arguing all the time, instead they focus on their religion.

I don't think people hate Jesus. They hate the people who thinks they know the work of Jesus and the Priest who runs Churches for self motivated gains. These people have perverted religion and made it to be something totally stupid rather than something insightful. Simply put. By not truly understanding the work of Jesus and only going by what "society" says about him, you would, if you have a logical mind, hate Jesus.

I believe people don't bash Jesus, they bash what today's Christians have done to his religion. Jesus preached love and caring, whereas today's Christians preach about how not to go to hell or how things should be hated and that they are bad.

I don't believe Jesus would of acted that way, so in a sense, it's no longer Jesus' religion but rather a religion of people who wish to control people through fear of eternal suffering, and that is what people bash. It is just my opinion though, I may not be correct.

it's called karma... first off truth leaves a physical mark on the earth... the reason we have no proof jesus existed is because he didn't exist. John Lennon was killed by a christian... if you see the interview of his murderer it's not the book "The catcher and the rye" that was the catalyst for his behavior, the bible was the motivation behind his actions. see truth leaves it's mark.... Now look at the history of the christian religion... it began in Rome. It was forbidden for lay men/women to know "the law" Karma battled to free the truth that is why is was published in common language. And evil kept prevailing through war, and murder so then god gave us freedom of religion so the christians would stop killing us for not believing ( Salem witch trials is just one example). Then the christians sit in judgment of us who don't believe in their religion, using bully tactics and verbal violence... violence begets violence.... judge not lest you be judged means as you behave towards others so shall you receive. in the name of jesus you bash... therefore it's no surprise that you get bashed. respect the laws of karma.
