Catfish is a generic term which could apply to almost any of the Species, and bullhead is a regional term which may apply to only one of the several sub-species.

They are both catfish the bullhead has a large head and is more prone to bottom feeding than a channel cat, they are dirtier looking too.....

bullheads have some nasty little bones in the dorsal and pectoral fins that raise up when the fish is under stress and can give a mean sting to an unsuspecting fisherman. as far as i've encountered, none of the other catfish types have this defensive weaponry.

A bullhead is what they call a yellowbelly catfish and it only gets up to like 5lbs. They bread more repidly.

bullheads are one breed of catfish [brown cats] there are many others such as channel cats, flatheads, and blue cats. its like bass and smallmouth bass.
