I constantly have to read that the common man has no hope in Mexico, that the situation can never be changed and that they have to come to America. Nonsense. They need to use that machismo they're so proud of to take on the power structure and have a real revolution. The US didn't get to be the greatest country in the world (Canada and Australia being a close second and third) by just rolling over and taking it. We took on the most powerful military in the world at the time, The British Army, in the Revolutionary War. Those who fought to free Texas took on the Mexican Army when it rivalled the best armies of Europe.

Right now the Mexican army is a joke, why can't Mexicans take control? They need to stop having the Mexican Attitude that the world is the way it is and can't be changed. They need to adopt the American Attitude that the world can be made better.

SAM F- Would the fatalities be worse than they were at the Alamo, where they were 100% Also, if the cops and soldiers are so poor that they require bribes, why don't they realize they could stage a coup unopposed and establish a true democracy?

VMW1970- Mexico was guilty of all of the crimes as well.

PIRATERACHEL- Roswell? No steam-powered cars? Jesus, you're an idiot?

RCJ409- You're an idiot. Santa Ana signed away the rights to texas to save his own life when he was defeated at the Battle of San Jacinto. The US then paid 15 million for the land to the Mexican government.

ADRI- Doesn't it bother you that Mexico is considered a joke by the entire world. That it's a countru so corrupt to people risk death by dehydration just to escape it. Instead of whining about why you can't fix things, why don't you show some bravery and fight the leaders of Mexico.

IPAGRANUS- Excellent response. I'm kind of taken aback. Do you feel that the flood of illegals will continue? My Mexican friends tell me that people have to pay for high school, that is why education is so bad. Is that still true?

BTW, I don't think you can compare the corruption of US and Mexican officials though.

The "American Attitude" is alive and well in Mexico. More than a million jobs were added last year in major industries such as tourism, construction and fishing. Corrupt government? Have we taken a look at our US GOP leaders lately? Some are going jail for crimes against the common man.

I see the Mexican army almost every day, they are young and look uncomfortable carrying automatic weapons at inspection stations. Hardened warriors, I don't think so. An uprising isn't imminent except among indigenous people of the south who are attempting to protect their forests and water systems from being destroyed by developers. They are few in numbers and unarmed.

From a historical perspective, Mexico is very old as a country, has gone through a number of invasions, has dealt with foreign powers, oppressive religion, slavery ,corrupt leaders and is joining the world as a prime producer of goods and services...think oil, natural gas, precious minerals. Plus, the Internet is everywhere in a country that less than 30 years ago had limited electricity and telephone service. More kids are going to high school and UNAM ( Baja California University) has a program for sustainable aquaculture that is respected throughout the world. Education is the key to Mexico's future growth.
Its time to forget the Alamo and move on.

If you look at the Political Corruption within the Government you would have the answer. The Drug Cartels run Mexico, where there are drugs there is money!! Unlike many Countries, Mexico really only has 3 classes of people, Corrupt and filthy rich, Wealthy and Poor, they really do not have a middle class. Unfortunately the poor are willing to do virtually anything to survive which includes running dope...and those are the ones we catch. The military and law enforcement in Mexico is paid very little and are subject to Mordidas (bribes) every day and feel it necessary to take them to survive.

Unlike America where we have programs to take care of "most" people no matter what Country you are from, you will not see that in Mexico. If you are not a Mexican Citizen and you try to obtain Government assistance of any kind you will end up in jail if you are lucky!! There is alot that most people do not know about Mexico and its Government, if you attempt to fight the Cartel you will have less than 72 hours to live... I have seen it time and time again. Drugs have destroyed that Country and it will take a disaster to bring it up from the ashes.

One of the stupidest parts is this. Not to long ago I read an article about how the "actors" who did the Spanish voices for the "Simpson's" t.v. show lost their contract and were not going to do the show again. well, according to news sources A great many people in Mexico were outraged by this and took to the streets and demanded that the same actors be given the ability to renew their contracts. The Mexican people seem to NOT have their priorities straight.

Those are stereo-typed statements. They probably feel it is very difficult to fight with their own government, as would we. IE.....Roswell, misinformation, big brother phone-tapping everyone, Gas prices, no steam-powered cars, drafts, selective service mandatory sign-up, experimentation on troops. Our country is still the best, for free enterprise, and many other things. But, elswhere in the world citizens enjoy free medical care, and not just those who qualify for "welfare" type programs. I could definately use more freedom than we truly have. Bad people are present in every country, and those of us who want to make the world a better place are sadly a minority. Most people are selfish and only want their own lives to be richer, not everyone else's.

To start off, Mexicans helped The States to gain Texas, AND YOU WON'TREAD THAT IN YOUR SCHOOL BOOKS(not to my knowledge). They fought for their right and freedom then. Now it's all about politics. The rich get richer and the poor stay poor. Bush and our government know this is why they want to push up their economy, but with Mexican elections coming up(don't know what direction they will head to. Plus, to much temptation here in the U.S.(drugs and low pay for local business).

They are fighting for their own country - by coming up here and raising the border north - there is no difference ethnically between Southern California and Mexico at the border up.

The chinese language already took their licks. they have been the 1st nationality to have anti immigration law surpassed againts them back indoors the mid 1850s. At one time they have been like the Hispanics of as we communicate distinctive than they have been taken care of plenty worse. the version between hispanics and the chinese language of as we communicate in spite of the actuality it rather is that the chinese language arent over working the U.S. and persons who do come, ordinarily do by making use of way of a criminal capacity no longer an unlawful capacity.
