Getting your wisdom teeth out is NOTHING compared to the pain of them growing and crowding your other teeth!! Bring something to clench that fits into the palm of your hands like a rolled up newspaper or a beanie baby...it helps to squeeze it when you feel anxious..I'm not kidding, it works! You'll see! Besides, it's gonna be a peice of cake, cuz I already said a little prayer 4 u.......

The actual removing isn't too painful because you will be drugged. After the operation is painful.

Suggestions: Make sure you have someone take you to the appointment so you don't have to drive. Have your bed ready with your favorite pillow because you are going to need to sleep. Rent some DVDs and buy some magazines to keep your mind off the pain for two or three days after the operation.

Make sure you use the syringe they give you to clean out the new holes in your mouth (where the wisdom teeth used to be) after you eat or drink.

Good Luck

I'm willing to bet that your fear of this procedure is causing you more anxiety than the actual event will tomorrow. The actual procedure will either numb the area or, depending no how many teeth, perhaps your dentist will use gas - that's what I used. You'll be sore, but they give you meds for the pain, and it's nothing horrible - just don't plan on solid food for a few days. Hope that helps you at least a little. Good luck! :)

I would suggest having the dentist "knock you out". It's not a fun experience if your wisdom teeth are deeply impacted.

Be sure to put ice on your jaw after wards and ask your dentist for some pain killers because you may need them. Good luck!

Mine did not hurt at all when they wre coming out. I did not go under anesthesia either. I got a local and I couldn't feel a thing( I have a thing against going under anesthesia unless it is a real surgery). Afterwards your cheeks will swell for a few days, mine did but not too bad. You need to rinse your mouth out 3x a days with salt water with that syringe thingy they give you, it doesnt hurt though. My mouth bled for a few days but it was very light, so if that happens don't stress too much, if you are GUSHING after 3 days call your dentist. You will be in discomfort, but they give you painkillers(they gave me Vicoden). You can't eat solids for 48 hours. When you go to get your stiches out, that does not hurt at all, it feels kind of funny but absolutley no pain. Good luck with your surgery :)

Oh yeah, make sure you get lots of sleep. Believe it or not it can speed up the healing process. I have had my teeth out for about 2 months now.

This is a relatively simple procedure. If the teeth are impacted i to the bone you could expect to feel some mild to moderate discomfort that the surgeon should prescribe some pain meds. Have something on your stomach so they don't make you sick when you take them. Take extra care to not get a dry socket, this is particularly dis comfortable and will make the recovery time longer. Good Luck!

to me the dang shots hurt worse than the actual removal of the tooth, because by the time they remove the tooth you are feeling little of anything, you do however need to be careful after it is removed that you dont smoke or allow it to become infected and develop a dry socket/pocket, those are extremely painful and take a long time to heal, but the wisdom tooth removal shouldnt be as bad as you are expecting, take a friend with you and concentrate on them and talking and let the dentist do what he does best and good luck.....

Hello,
I have already gone through that and do not worry. It is absolutely painless. Thus I will give you some pieces of advice:
1. ask your doctor to put anaesthetizating gel on your gum (it will ensure that you do not feel the injection);
2. After the anaesthetizating gel ask for anaesthetizating injection;
3. And now you will feel completely nothing :).

Good Luck to you and do not be nervous not make the doctor worry, ok? :)
P.S. After the procedure you should keep your mouth clean, e.g. do not eat for 2 hours, etc.

It wasn't painful at all for me during the procedure. They shot me up with Novocaine and all I felt was pressure and my brains screaming crazy because I was scared. But after wards I didn't feel a thing. However, some people I know had a bad headache or their gums hurt later. Rest and pain killers worked then.

Just talk with your dentist before and after wards. Asking the same question you're asking here.

Sometimes they put you to sleep for a few minutes while they take them out, so you don't feel any pain when they do it. Or sometimes (like me), I got just novocaine. And again, I didn't feel any pain. So you'll come through it just fine. People talk about how it hurts afterwards, but I didn't think that was a big deal really. I was more worried about the actual procedure which turned out not to be nearly as bad as my imagination made it out to be.
