Americans may say the world is jealous of they being a superpower but 16 years from now Russia was a superpower but the only people jealous with them were the Americans... And the people who hated them were Afghanis but the rest of the world had no problem with them not Africa,Asia middle east And some part of china but Americans are hated now throughout the world... Now i dont think thats jealousy Russia even today has the maximum Nuclear weapons followed with USA and UK ..Its the Principle of Americans that they are hated and they dont accept whats happening outside Hollywood and Las vegas.

Isn't that funny, i was asking myself the same thing. I assume that most have never travelled abroad and experienced the world beyond their own back yard. Call it ignorance. But I do agree that there are people out there who don't know that there is a whole world of opinions and ideals that are waiting to be explored. By the way, explore some of the questions in politics and you will discover that there are a considerable amount of people who are questioning their present government in the US.

Firstly wrong category.

Secondly I don't think the Americans EVER were jealous of the USSR ... I think they were very suspicious of communism generally but not jealous.

In terms of who hated the USSR, the Afghans were at the end of a VERY long list of countries who had a problem with them ... parts of Africa, Asia and the Middle East certainly did.

Arguing anything on who has the most nukes is pretty childish ... did the acronym MAD pass you by?

Much as SOME Americans have problems empathising with other parts of the world ... this applies to SOME people everywhere. The Hollywood/Las Vegas comment shows a fundamental lack of geographical/social knowledge.

Generalising about a country is pretty much the same as racism.

If you want to make a point about something I suggest that you drop the rants and concentrate on the point.

Peace out

Americans are taking more of an isolationlist view to life now. As long as their home and land is safe, they don't really care about the rest of the world, especially with thier country in billions of dollars of deficeit. I mean, who would want to care about the rest of the world when your country doesn't have money to supoort itself? And Russia aka the USSR, was a superpower only because of their nuclear power. Soviet dictators literally starved thier citizens and commanded the country's economy. The Russia 16 years ago was more of a Nazi concentration camp than a superpower. Eggs and bread had to be rationed during the summer months, when there was harvest in the fields! Millions starved nevertheless.

It's an obvious case of cultural differences, no place is like the United States and in turn the United States is not like any other place (or country). Values, morals, beliefes, religion are soo diverse throughout the world you can't expect everyone to have the same view on even things as simple as what kind of car is "nice". Don't forget that our country was founded and structured around a christian belief, it's all over our constitution, declarations, etc. How can you judge us when in other countries there are belief systems that kill others in the name of god, there are people who live with no technology because of their religious beliefs, and the list goes on and on.

America being a "democtratic society, by the people, for the people" is a crock of sh***t, the average person doesn't have a say in what the government does. And don't forget that America is no longer comprised of "Americans" as you know them in history, it is now a nation of many nations, Americans of no other lineage are no longer the majority, there are african americans, latins of all kinds, europeans, etc.

I think you are making an ignorant assumption and an unrealistic generalization. But that's my opinion.

Can everyone here state where you currently live?

I live in America.

Go SOLO!

After reading the answers given above i think these people or their future generation are gonna be in big trouble ..What are these people going to do when USA in under attack.. 9/11 has shooked them so badly what about planes running on top of them when the real war breaks ..When everyone is getting their frustration on them .
Massive war crimes in Vietnam war: The mass murder of well over 1 million (some say about 3 million) innocent Vietnamese civilians during the Vietnam war was an act of mass state terrorism. (The USA also used chemical weapons such as dioxins in this aggressive war.) But US citizens are capable of feeling no sympathy for any people other than their own. They think that one American is worth a thousand foreigners. There are many people in the USA even now who are proud of their participation in the mass murder and war crimes in Vietnam.

I think theres no point in even talking to Americans like the Russians and canadians say. Its an ol saying "empty vessels make more noise"

I really get tired of generalities. As a group Americans are handicapped by inexperience with other cultures..this is very true but no less true of other nationalities about American life.

You miss use the word jealous. US was never jealous of Russia. It was the threat of physical agression by a superpower that US feared. Also be aware that a lot of any countries political and military posturing is a form of control over the people. A distraction of sorts. Read "The Prince" by Machevelli who advised how to maintain power by using "an enemy without" to unite the country. When US had the Soviet Union we had a common enemy. Bush is trying to use terrorism as the new common enemy from without.

I don't think you are looking for an answer. I think you have made up your mind and that is that. But lets ask you some questions?

So the Poles and East Germans that got shot trying to escape Russia didn't hate them huh? Must have loved them that is why they were escaping.

I assume you think the 40 Million Stalin killed didn't hate him either?

Why do you stereo type? You think that all 300 Million Americans are ignorant of the rest of the world? Why do you hate so much?

excellent question. perhaps because the american education system has cut funds for philosophy and art classes. american education system doesnt teach other religions either which in my opinion is a huge mistake. Most christians dont want thier kids to learn about other religions they think it will poison the mind. But then again isnt it mind poison to brainwash your kid and give them no other options?

Most Americans are cynical about their government. I dont know why you think otherwise. *I* dont have anything to do with the decisions the government makes and I oppose many things and most the people I know feel the same way.

People just have pride for the USA. It can be ignorant, but some people were raised for unconditional love for their country. Sorry i can't help your frustrations, i echo alot of those views as well, but what are we going to do? Thanks
