We're made in the spiritual image of God, but that doesn't mean we ARE God; we make mistakes. The Bible does have some internal inconsistancies, but it's also about 4000 years old. You can't expect a story to be reproduced perfectly all throughout that time. And I don't think it really matters anyway, since the creation story is more meant to be a parable than a factual history. The message is more important than the individual details.

We are created in his image, however you must read further. We were perfect human beings until Satan tricked eve into eating the fruit. Thus causing the first sin. Also something you should keep in mind is what bible your reading from. Just because it says bible on the front doesn't mean it is accurate. Bibles after all are written by imperfect men. I would suggest the king James version along with what is called a Strong's concordance. This book is written by 25 different men from everywhere who have translated every word in the bible back into Hebrew and Greek. Which basically means the words you read today do not mean what they meant when they were written. So to interpret the scriptures correctly you need to know the true meaning of the word. Did you know that in all but one place in the bible the actual word hell means grave/pit. Not a place you burn in eternally. Just a small bit to help you see what i mean.~~

imperfection is not in the world but in our eyes...
we see thru all evolution that earth did not change nor soil nor mountains, nor the sky but the change is in the animal..i.e. man..
what is the difference between an optimist and a pessimist?
one sees the world as good and the other as bad..good or bad, less and great..all these are in the mind..and not in nature..
the same fire which burns a house cooks food for a man..so its not the fault of the fire...its our own doing how we use this...
imperfection is in the mind...
did god create us in his image? I don't think so, coz Greek gods wear Greek clothes and look like Greeks, the Norwegian gods wear Norwegian clothes and look like Norwegians, so with the Egyptians, so with the Hindus..
I have a different interpretation of what "created in god's image" means...but its a long one...and i am not going to explain it here

We're imperfect because we've evolved over billions of years, and evolution is very "chaotic".
The bible is just a VERY popular fictional book... let's just say the most popular on Earth. People believe too much of what they read and hear.
If there existed this MASSIVELY popular book/religion in which our "god" was thought to be a flying goat, would the masses of people believe it? Probably, because the stories in bible are just about as far fetched. It's called mass delusion.

the answer comes down to freewill. If we were to follow what God tells us, there would not be any imperfection as we would be in God's will. However, since we as humans usually use our freewill to do as we like in spite of God, thus the nature of sin and fallen man. God gave man authority over the birds in the air and the creatures of the earth, yet we do not have that authority because we cannot even take care of ourselves.

Chapter 2 is basically a rehash of Chapter 1, that's all.

Clearly, the term ‘image of G-d’ cannot be taken literally – G-d doesn’t have an image, G-d is not bound by space.
This is reflected in that we have a soul.

We are perfectly projecting our concept of imperfection...that is, using our perfection to act as if we were imperfect, which in truth, is impossible...because in truth, we are perfect, whole, and complete, as part of whatever God actually is.

It's a before/after created/made compare-i-son shew of one man vs one man (as noted in Rom 5):
BEFORE: (i) created: "in our image"
AFTER (ii) made: "after our likeness",
kinda like when looking in a mirror the image is reversed, left is right with the dark end image of the likeness.
(i) created: imperfect ... law (bond-age)
(ii) made: perfect ... grace (liberty)
It's "allegory": Gal 4, and allegoric compare-i-son.
The two sons of Abraham are the two covenants.
One man vs One man: Romans 5
First Adam vs Last Adam: 1Cor 15
It's about Law/Grace, Old/New man.
God did NOT say let us create man.
Rather God said "let us MAKE man".
And being "made perfect" Christ became
the author of "eternal salvation": Heb 5
The God of all grace MAKE you perfect(merciful),
AFTER ye(do err) suffer awhile in yer law law.
The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Please go ask your pastor or someone who can help you. I was always told not to read to much into the bible just take it for what it says.
