Melbourne is the best place to live in australia. Spoken by a loyal melbournian. It has good shops. It is well organised - good town planning, it has beautiful beaches and the weather is never boring - you get a good opportunity to parade both summer, winter, autumn and spring wardrobes in one day. There's beautiful hills, delicious coffee and always lots happening.

As a general region, south east Queensland.

From there, pick whether you like... a big city, beachy type communities, rural farming, whatever.

Best weather, housing affordablity, economy, more jobs & growth, more laid-back than Sydney or Melbourne. Doesn't have the high-exec, big-business bases of those cities though if that's your thing.

And it is THE holiday destination for the rest of the country.

I don't know where to live, but we spent about 10 days in Cairns and absolutely loved it. The people are wonderful and so relaxed. Good luck to you and make sure you look at all the regulations b/c Austrailia has some tough rules for living there.

It depends on you. If you like cities, you could live in Sidney. If you don't like cities, don't live in sidney, live in the countryside. If you don't like either, find a middle between the two like a small but big town.
