Can I get an XP activation code which will activate XP professional, without going through Microsoft?

You need to validate windows to get support and updates for the many security flaws, you may be able to get a code to validate it but it's doubtful. Microsoft do not give support to any windows not validated altho it will work without.
Why not just pay the £60 and get a proper version through MS and save yourself time and hassle in the long run or use another OS there are some out there and they are growing in popularity as are the alternatives to IE and outlook
