You may want to repost your question. As the other poster mentioned "South West Canada" is a little vague..

The Rockies basically stradle the border between BC and Alberta, our two Western most provinces. At the Southern end, Calgary, Alberta's largest and most prosperous city is located in the Eastern foothills of the Rockies.. lots of oil money there.

To the West, in BC there is an old coal town called Fernie, now renowned for its snowboarding, to the west of that is a very picturesque are of BC known as the Kootenays, encompassing towns like Nelson and Creston - the areas popular with utdoorsey type people with equal parts redneck and hippie

Stand-out highlights of the Rockies themselves include the mountain / town nature resorts of Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff
