More than 600 scientists holding doctoral degrees have gone on the record expressing skepticism about Darwin's theory of evolution and calling for critical examination of the evidence cited in its support.

All are signatories to the Scientific Dissent From Darwinism statement, which reads: "We are skeptical of claims for the ability of random mutation and natural selection to account for the complexity of life. Careful examination of the evidence for Darwinian theory should be encouraged."

"Dissent from Darwinism has gone global," said Discovery Institute President Bruce Chapman. "Darwinists used to claim that virtually every scientist in the world held that Darwinian evolution was true, but we quickly started finding U.S. scientists that disproved that statement. Now we're finding that there are hundreds, and probably thousands, of scientists all over the world that don't subscribe to Darwin's theory."

even if 10,000 scientist question darwinism (you report has over 600 only) that is maybe one percent of all scientists in the world (thats a very conservative assuption too), so what does it matter if one out of every hundred scientist question darwinism? they are probably blinded by their own religous beliefs and biased...

evolution like other theories (plate tectonics, relativity, gravitation) has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt to be true

The whole point about being a scientist is to be highly skeptical and question everything. Until something can be proven completely and irrefutably there is always room for doubt. I'm sure some scientist are skeptical about how black holes work, after all no one has seen one or studied one closely. This does not PROVE that they don't exist however.

The fact that you posted this question in the religion section clearly shows how you feel about it. At the end of the day even if all of Darwin's theories were dismissed by the entire scientific community tomorrow all it would prove is that we, as humans don't know. Not knowing how something works does not mean that it is magic. I don't know exactly how my cell phone works, this does not mean that magic pixies make it work.

The problem with people like you is that they assume that as soon as pesky science can be replaced with uncertainty the Bible thumpers are free to move in and use tales of magic and the supernatural as an explanation. At the end of the day humans will never understand everything, but this does not prove the Bible to be correct in any way.

I strive to see more than just with my physical eyes, and I agree with everything said in the above articles & the Bible!
How many have ever questioned whether DARWIN HIMSELF believed in evolution the way it has been taught?

From the article,
"Consider the Evidence From the Animal World" I quote:

> Though many casual readers may not be aware of the fact, Charles Darwin did not believe in evolution in the absolute sense. In the conclusion of his work "Origin of Species", he says: >>>“There is a grandeur in this view of LIFE, WITH ITS SEVERAL POWERS, HAVING BEEN ORIGINALLY BREATHED BY THE CREATOR into a few forms, or into one.” <<< (Awake! 4/8/78)<

Now ... What do YOU think?!?

Well, I looked a little bit at the link you provided, and find that wnd.com, or WorldNetDaily is an extremist conservative group, and I was disturbed by some of their other "commentaries". Upon clicking their link to provide the list of people joining the group I was suprised to find two people I know on that list, and I know these people would never have suscribed to something like that (not because of the viewpoint expressed, but because of the type of people they are) ... so I'm suspicious.

Before deciding whether I ascribe to the same viewpoint, I'd first have to read the theories of at least a majority of those scientists listed, and I'm not sure I care enough about it to read it that much lol

Evolution can be divided into two parts, macro and micro. Micro evolution is a fact, where as macro evolution remains a theory due to debates on the exact steps of the evolutionary process. EVOLUTION DID HAPPEN we simply can’t trace the exact evolutionary steps of the of the 3 trillion plus species on earth. Considering there is no way that we can even prove if we have located all the species on earth, this may always remain a theory. We can prove though, beyond a doubt, that humans have evolved. We can trace it back conclusively 3.6 million years. 97% of all scientists accept evolution (so does the Catholic Church). Christians have spread lies about this excessively, they especially like to say evolution preaches that Humans evolved from monkeys. Evolution does not state that humans evolved from monkeys, that idea is completely absurd. Science states that monkeys and humans evolved from a shared forefather and are hence relatives, (all primates are) but we are in no way direct descendants of them.

LOL good for your.

Real scientists have done the same. A list of all scientists that DO support evolution theory (no ISM needed by calling it Darwinism). But they have only listed all the "Steve"s that support it and they have over 750 already. So...lets extrapolate from that...how many do you reckon there are in total if the Steve's alone comprise over 750?

Unfortunately, Fundamentalists, Creationists and Intelligent Design proponents take statements of some scientist ' out of context' in an attempt to prove their point.

Creationism and Intelligent Design are NOT science...They are BELIEF SYSTEMS....Merely stating your belief does NOT make it correct.

There exists a HUGE PLETHORA of evidence supporting the ' natural selection' theory, and no serious scientist would doubt the fact that the process has been at work for millions of years.

I'm afraid you have fallen for propaganda...Yes, Christians lie, too...Sorry if that offends

It's good for scientists to be skeptical... that's what makes for good science. There is, in fact "scientific skepticism," questioning the veracity of claims, using the Scientific Method to prove or disprove them -- not having an agenda to disprove them, as many would like to think.

These are not the same things as "dissent" or "not subscribing to them," no matter what the conservative and religion-based Discovery Institute would like to assert.

How many of these scientists did you contact personally? I noticed one of the bilogy PhDs names who was near me so I sent him an email to verify his position. I suggest you do the same with others on the list. In the past I have been amazed how unscrupulous these people are when I have attempted to verify their statements, so I have very little confidence in anything creationists post. They seem to lie at every given opportunity. I will respond further if I get some replies. I suggest you go through the list and send some emails yourself to verify that these scientists actually reject evolution.

I notice many of these are actually engineers and not biological scientists. It is only the biology PhDs that are relevant, and I would ignore the rest.

artificial selection is also a fact that cant be ignored. And it works the same way.Thats what breeding for bigger cows . horses and pigs is all about. Just because someone disagrees with something does disprove a thing.Work on disproving the theory of gravity and work your way up.It has changed alot since Darwin,Now it is called the theory of common descent.
