What do you call the job Robin Hood used to do? He wasn't a thief or robber. What was he? In Slovak national history we have a similar national hero called Janosik. He did the same - stole money and jewelry from the rich and gave them to the poor. We call this "job" ZBOJNIK.

He was an outlaw, a political activist against Prince John's tyrannical rule, the worlds first welfare worker and the world's first super hero!

In fact, there was no real person called "Robin Hood". Over the centuries, his story and folklore grew from a number of personalities that did "right and just things" for the poor when England needed a hero.

He evolved over time to who he is known as today.... Errol Flynn! He was the best Robin Hood as far as I'm concerned.

Did you also know that the gallows oak is real...... there is a 1000 year old oak tree in what is in the legendary Sherwood Forest.
They are actually selling seedlings from this tree. It was actually used for hangings!!

He was a robber... just as stated earlier, if it was for any good cause, it doesnt make the crime any better... it still is a crime... he didnt discriminate whether that money was inherited or earned by hard work and thats not a crime... even then they were robbed by robin hood and the money was given to the poor... did it change anything?? if he was such a good fighter, why didnt he organise the merrymen and try to topple the corrupt government?? i think fr him robbing was more convenient.. and that makes him a REAL robber and no saint...

He had a title 'Robin of Loxley'. That means he owned land. That means he didn't need a job prior to him becoming a criminal. That is if he existed at all.

I would say he was a robber or a thief or a highwayman. Just because he robbed taxes that belonged to the Crown and gave them to good causes doesn't change the crime.

Since he was into the redistribution of wealth, I guess you could call him a socialist.

It's a little tricky to precisely pin down what Robin Hood did for employment (as there wasn't an actual person) but if you read in between the lines of the story I get the impression he was a lord of the manor (prior to being involved with the Crusades). A lord of the manor in England isn't a specfic job as such but does hold responsibilties such as maintaining the land for use in agriculture as well as gathering taxes to pay to the King.
