Healthy food, exercise, water, these three go hand in hand when you want to lead a healthy, happy and fit existance.
If you want to do this it is for life so you need to totally change your way of eating and exercising. This is not a diet rather than a healthy eating plan for life. So no more talking diet cause it means time limit.
Here are the golden rules:
Initially cut down to 1200 (women) - 1500 (men) calories.
Exercise 6 times per week for 1 hours a day. Do three weight sessions and three cardio sessions. No gym involved if you don't have the access.
Don't eat carbs after 4pm, never eat carbs within 2 hours of exercise or within 1 hour of exercise.
Drink 3 litres of water per day. You can have a green tea at the end of the day.
Limit your fruit in take to 2 pieces per day.
Never eat dinner after 6pm.
Adopt of low GI eating plan this is sustainable for life!
Make low fat dairy choices
Follow this menu plan as a suggestion:
Breakfast 7am - 1 cup hot water w lemon
20 minutes later have a bowel of oats w water (no honey) OR
fruit salad w low GI soy yogurt
Snack 10am - pear or apple (both low GI)
Lunch 12.30pm - muligrain sandwich w 50g tuna & salad (no butter)
Snack 3pm - low GI yogurt OR skim berry smoothie (no honey or banana) plenty of ice, 1/2 cup skim milk & 1/4 cup yogurt
Dinner 5.30pm - 120g grilled lean meat/fish/prawns/tofu patties (not fried) w spinach salad & mixed vegies (no whites, carbs) OR 3 egg white/soy omlette with ham, cheese and tomato
Snack - 1 scoop of low cal low fat ice cream (if hungry)
Exercise is must be intense. Refer to www.bodybuilding.com for your weights routine. Never do weights two consecutive days have a cardio day in between.
Cardio needs to include running, go hard up stair wells and cycling. If you have access to a gym include boxing and spin classes as well. You get the most benefits from exercise when your body is totally fatigued and this is when you see changes.
To maintain you can increase calories to 1500 (women) - 1800 (men) and reduce exercise sessions to 3-4 times per week. If weight creeps up again due to holiday period etc.. go back to 1200 (women) - 1500 (men) cal and 6 sessions again.
Good luck it worked for me it can work for anyone.

That is plenty of running to stay in shape. Do don't have to totally cut out your junk food but you can upgrade to healthier junk food. When you eat muffins, choose carrot, bran or blueberry so that you are getting something healthy and fiber. Try baked potato chips instead. There is also something called "Veggie Booty," that looks like green cheese puffs. They taste great, but are healthy. Oatmeal cookies are also somewhat healthy. Instead of candy bars, try protein bars. Also, it is fine to indulge in a little of dark chocolate every day especiallly if buy the bars with fruit and nuts in them. Trader Joes has a good assortment of these. If you have to eat airheads, try sprinkling them on top of some flavored, non - fat yogurt; this way, you are gettting something healthy too. Be sure you drink plenty of water. Water fills your stomach up so you may feel too full to want junk food.
When you do eat candy, please be sure to brush your teeth! One of my sons ate a lot of candy and soda when he was your age and wouldn't listen to me about brushing his teeth. By time he was 16, 4 of his back molars were rotten and he had to get 4 root canals and crowns and I had to take an extra job to pay for them! I hope that others can learn from his mistake!
Finally, don't worry too much about your stomach. My 5 kids all went through a chubby stage and outgrew it as they grew taller.

First of all I commend you for running at such a young age! I'm afraid tho, that all of your running is just burning off all the junk you're eating!
If you want to be healthy and fit, you'll have to cut way back on all the junk food and eat some good meals. If you eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you won't be so hungry for junk food. So.....your diet plan, at your age, is to eat a good breakfast, lunch and dinner. This way you won't want so much junk! Cut your junk food intake in half, and you may be a good athlete some day, since you're liking exercise so much now.

You're only 12, but I was 12 once, and I wanted to look good in a bathing suit. Swimming is great exercise, so is walking. After you exercise, eat protein. Also remember, your body is still growing, so don't go crazy with too much exercise or diet. Have fun when you exercise, ride a bike, mow the lawn, garden. You'll still burn calories.
Do something you enjoy. Exercise doesn't have to be work! As soon as it's not fun, you'll start to hate it.
Good luck, and enjoy yourself!

no it is not with alarmingly increasing rate of obesity specially in children due to fats u can have heart problems and diabetes and trust diseases do not see the age of a person . dieting is a solution but it does not mean that u only live at the sake of boiled veges it means to reduce ur intake. like at lunch u eat four things then make those four things two or eat those four things in minimum quantities. People may say u r 12 enjoy life and they are right but enjoys life does not mean too eat too much like u do so reduce ur eating quantities and enjoy and offcource run the way u run now .
best luck

We eat junk when we don't have enough protein in our diet. All that exercise is causing your muscles to eat up everything - including protein. Be careful you don't become iron deficient! Eat more meat! Also make sure you have 2-4 dairy servings a day. You are at a critical age, and proper diet is important.

You can do many things at home, watching what you eat is a great start. Stick to a steady diet, maybe do some jumping jacks, switch it up to sit ups, running every day is great to keep the heart up and you will soon find that you have enough excercise to do these things every day. Try some cardio, yoga, just keep moving and keep on your feet. Good luck to you!

Two miles is a good run for your age, although it depends on your general health, weather, air condition (if in a city)... but, the 'junk food', that's gotta go, otherwise you'll be fighting a weight problem the rest of your life... that's no fun! Take pride in your appearance and activity and the food you feed you... you'll be glad you did!
