Yup. I know exactly what your talking about! I have thought of that too. I'm filipino. I came here 10 years ago. Here children that have ADD takes medication. In the philippines that would be called Discipline and parenting. I think society over here relies on that little pill for a quick fix. Sh*T! one of my friends just gives those pills away! But don't get me wrong some people actually do need it and needs it to function.

For those people that speak so freely, how about you understand what is really going on before you speak. Ever heard of open mouth, insert foot?
Some of you sound extremely stupid. Please understand this. My son is on meds for ADD. He has a chemical imbalance in his brain. He has great parents. Yes, his father and I are doing a GREAT job raising him. My 11 year old child is very polite, he greets and speaks to his elders in a respectful manor. He does what he is told, when he is told. He just completed the 5th grade is already on a college reading level and has been since he was in 4th grade. He is a straight A student, and did I mention that he does what he's told, when he's told? The only reason he takes meds is to keep from distracting other students in his class. He does not take them on the week-ends, school holidays, or during the summer. His little pill is to help the teacher. So maybe you should attack the teachers that are too damn lazy to deal with my son, and other students like him!!!!

Jefferson airplain - White Rabbit
One pill makes you larger,
and one pill makes you small,
And the one's that Mother gives you
don't do anything at all.
Go ask Alice,
when she's ten feet tall.
And if you go chasing rabbits,
and you know you're going to fall,
Tell 'em a hookah-smoking caterpillar,
has given you the call.
Call Alice,
when she was just small.
When the men on the chess board,
get up and tell you where to go,
And you've just had some kind of mushroom,
and your mind is moving low,
Go ask Alice.
I think she'll know.
When logic and proportion
have fallen a sloppy dead,
And the white knight is talking backward,
and the red queen's off with her head,
Remember what the doormouse said:
"Feed your head! Feed your head!"

there is no "magic pill" that can protect one from life's emotional struggles. HOWEVER, remember the various systems our bodies consist of do not always run correctly or at it's optimum capacity. Kind of like your automobile. There are drugs prescribed by qualified physicians that can help correct something that is not working correctly.for example Serotonin levels.
two things: you still have work to do. stuff happens in life all the time that is not so great. To what degree it impacts your life, for how long and what you can do to change it is your work.It is how we evolve, mature,"get better" at orchestrating our life.
second, a physician must know his/her drugs and not hand them off like the "magic pill".
life is a gift. I believe one of the greatest gifts is our ability to laugh. it is the sign of joy. I once read something that has "stuck" with me throughout my years;
"There is no such thing as a problem without a gift in it's hand. We seek problems because we need their gifts".

Of course we should but there is nothing wrong with taking a little break from reality especially when reality is making one miserable maybe that little pill removes some of the stress or makes people able to cope with their problems instead of sitting and crying or getting drunk and stupid. sidney 2110

If you're talking about anti-depressants such as Prozac, yes, it's more than a little messed up. Prozac will be a contributing factor in the demise of my marriage. She thinks there's nothing wrong, nothing to talk about, because the drug makes her beleive that. No communication= no marriage= no problems solved.

Yup! Thats why there are soo many problems - nobody wants to deal with them or take responsibility. They want to forget it with a pill or drown it with an intoxicant

until you actually need the pill, you shouldn't call it messed up. Until you research and get to love someone who needs this "pill" you can't possibly understand how great it is for some.
