All parrots bite. I mean, what's a beak for, right? Male parrots do bite a lot more often than a female, though, because they are highly territorial and the dominant one in the species. Here's a helpful hint on how to know if he's going to bite you. If his eyes are dialating it means he's pissed so don't go near him unless you want your finger bitten off.

all birds can bite. IT depends also on what u catagorize a bite as? Birds use their beaks as we use our hands. It could also be a number of other things such as pueberty, molting, not getting at least 12 hours of uninterupted sleep (no lights, no sounds aka tv/radio) these thing will make any well behaved bird grumpy and possibly nippy. Some birds become cage territoral, and will defend "the fort" and become nippy. These are all things both male and female parrots are capable of. But i would also point out that usually it is the humans fault when they are bit, our lack of understanding their body language/ or what the bird is going through (molting,ect...) or lack of proper rest and diet..... Maybe it is us that sometimes makes a grumpy bird or antagonizes unknowingly a grumpy bird.

Is the male a part of a pair? If so, it is breeding season & is most likely being aggressive to protect territory, his mate & nest (if you have a nesting box or could be protecting the bottom of the cage, your female's so-called nesting site in the absence of a box). What type of parrot is this? Amazons are very territorial this time of year even without a mate.
