To be honest because both sides misunderstand each other, and it seems to be human nature to react fearfully to those things we don't understand.
Unfortunately, it's our nature also to try to avoid being attacked by things we're afraid of by making the first move and starting the fight on our terms so, at the very least, we have a good chance of getting out of it alive.
Can we live in peace?
I don't know.
Do you want to?
Peace will be achieved when that's what people genuinely want before anything else, and have the bravery to lay down their arms and walk toward their enemies with open arms, even in the face of harm or death, to embrace them as brothers and sisters.
As for me, I'm an American, and I will freely extend my hand in peace and friendship to each and every Arab out there who simply wants to live in peace themselves.

Americans and Arabs do not hate each other. Many powerful Islamic leaders teach their followers to hate Israel and seek its destruction. The USA is the major supporter of Israel in the world, and so is a target of much slander by those who preach hate. The Muslim world as individual humans needs to reject those kinds of doctrines and depose those leaders. Everyone has a right to live on this planet. We can live together in peace if we choose.

Americans and Arabs don't hate each other......... Some Arab Muslims hate America because they believe we are immoral.... and they have a point, but they do not believe that people should be able to choose. They seem to feel that if you sre not muslim and do not follow the teachings of Muhammed that you are evil. What they forget is that Muhammed taught tolerance of Christians and Jews. If you hang around with people that are extremely dedicated to any religion you will find there are always the obsessed militant types

Human nature my ***. It's all about the money and power. If we all got along and lived in a perfect world where EVERYONE was working together toward one common global goal, where's the power? A perfect society is one owned and controlled by the masses, not the elected few we appoint every 4 years. Don;t get me wrong, I'll all for global peace, but the ones with the power most certainly are NOT!

You sould consider two points: first that not only Arabs but the whole Middle East people are very fanatic in whatever they believe in. Either they are Muslim or not, they can't tolerate opposite opinions. They don't like their values to be threatened because most of them (u want it or not) can't win a discussion opposing them. They can't defend themselves LOGICALLY not emotionally!!!! So they think America is the symbol of satan and all the American nation is damned forever. They have misunderstood some parts of religion and they think their duty is to fight America till death. Moderation is not in their vocabulary!!!
On the other hand, American people are totally brainwashed be the medias. Their image of middle east is a desert in which uncivilized savages are riding camels and hunting lizards!!! From their point of view, the only thing which Middle Easterns are perfectly skilled in, is Terrorism.
So... whose fault is it now?!!!

I agree. But peace doesn't come that easily. Everybody must WANT peace in order for it to come true. Hate is human's nature. We love, we hate. We like, we despise. It's how we are and how we were made. Nowadays, we can't control our hate very well, causing even more hate and destruction to what we call home --- earth.
