My answer is quite direct. First, make sure that your meals are balanced. Second, increase intake of carbohydrate and protein foods but not fatty foods! The reason is simply because once carbohydrate and protein foods are consumed into the body, and the body has utilised them, the excess will be converted to fats and are stored in the body. However, if you were to consume fatty foods (since the word fatty suggests 'fats' and you would know that it gives 'fats' to the body), it is unhealthy to consume in excess. High in fatty foods can cause health problems like coronary heart disease, diabetes, etc.
So, I guess, if possible, you might want to consult a dietician for more tips and information. I'm a Food and Nutrition student and am not really an expert in diets, but I do score As for all tests and exams, this is what I don't wish to boast about... haahah....

i have had the same problem as you. im 26yrs now and only weighed 36 kgs until 3 months ago. i tried everything from the time i was a teenager to put on weight and nothing helped. even eating more including junk foods and 'fattening foods' just made me feel uncomfortable and lazy, but no increase in my weight. three months ago i started tai bo classes and found that my appetite picked up, so naturally i started eating more cos my body needed it and now i find that i weigh 40 kgs. i didnt get any fatter but my body has built up quite nicely.
