What would a "Dali Llama" look like? Kinda melting all over the place, à la the watches in "The Persistence of Memory"? ;)

All seriousness aside, several years ago I read "Seven Years in Tibet." Top-notch book; much, much better than the film; if you teach high school I'd highly recommend it. But I digress. In the book, the current Dalai Lama was picked by a search team that traveled all over Tibet looking for signs of the reincarnation of a past Dalai Lama.
Of course the current tyrants...uh, rulers of Tibet could throw a wrench into the works, what with their claim that the Panchen Lama (their boy) is supreme, and their typically communist complete control over travel within Tibet. Scumbags. Why can't they leave well enough alone? Free Tibet! (OK, I'll get down off my prayer wheel now...)
