I feel really old when I see clips of old tv shows or presenters and they look young, yet when I was a kid these same people looked really ancient.

What makes you feel old.

(and there's the old stuff about policemen and doctors)

Feeling old is when you look at sweets like Starburst and say "I'm sure they used to be bigger when I was young...and called something else!"

Feeling old is when you start hating pop music and start listening to something a bit slower with more voilins in it.

Feeling old is when you go to the checkout and get served by someone and you think you're old enough to be their mother or father.

I am 71 and feel old when I look at my classmates at reunions, when I am slow standing up after sitting on the floor, when I look in the mirror, when I can not yell for my dog without hurting my throat and when I feel sexual but do not want to do anything about it. But I felt old at 27 when I was not married yet and friends where younger, felt really old on my 40 year old birthday, etc, etc. Like everything else it is relative. I feel quite young when I am just me doing my life or when I am with someone who is mid 80s plus.

When you cough and you hear your father's cough.
When people refer you as Sir and you look around you to see who they are talking about.
When you feel icky when you find out someone you find attractive was born born in the 80s.
When a 19 year old ask you what an LP is
When you get proprietary aspirations to specific armchairs
When you are out in a club and you turn down drugs because you want to catch something on the radio the next morning.

Hearing favorite song from my youth being played in the elevator on my way to the 11th floor. Or on a tv commercial. Also one day while visiting the airforce plane museum my husband began feeling old when he noticed that the planes in the museum were the same planes that he used to launch off the flight deck while he was in the service!!!!

For me, a good example would be mentioning things relating to the pop culture of my time and then realizing that no one has a clue as to what I am talking about. There are actually adults who know nothing about The Beatles! I find that so sad.
Of course, the nearly complete loss of libido at age 47, six years ago, hasn't helped a thing!

I remember telling my friends when I was 12 that when 2000 came around I would turn 30....that seemed ancient! Now ancient looks more like 80 or 90...

It makes me feel old when I realize that I remember events that took place a long time ago. When I think back upon those events and realize "holy s***, that was 20 years ago!" I get the feeling I'm getting old.

Seriously speaking, much like puberty, the onset happened for me in an instant. About the time I turned 35... everything started going south, I no longer felt young... and middle age set in overnight... backaches.. feet hurting... everything but THAT... and I am scared that THAT is next...
