if the new games were too much like the old games, there'd be no reason to buy the new ones. without innovation, there is no market.

the other thing to consider: when someone says "they don't make 'em like they used to!" most of the time the person is remembering something good ("tomb raider", perchance) while looking at something that is new and lame. all of the crap that wasn't "tomb raider" has long since been forgotten.

in other words: take care of your brain. nostalgia is a rest area along the road to senility.

Because technology in general has improved, computers are faster, graphics and sounds are faster and better, programming skills have advanced, so that is why we now have bigger, better, faster! Out with the old - In with the new.
Aren't you glad?
