In dictionarys, [C] stands for 'countable' while [U] stands for 'uncountable.' What does [M] stand for for a noun?

Could it be "mass"?
My dictionaries don't provide that information, so I don't know.

Unlike the English language, other languages know different genders of nouns (masculinum, femininum, neutrum) The declination and articles are different, therefore it's essential to know the gender of the noun.
M could stand for masculinum, that's about the only explanation I can come up with.
