I have no idea what coumadin is... I just felt that I had to tell you the difference between the words "Anecdote" and "Antidote"

The first is a funny story you tell people about something that happened to you in the past which ties in to the current topic of conversation.

The second is a remedy to a toxin which you have ingested or have otherwise been exposed to.

Try not to make this mistake again please, a mind is a terrible thing to waste.

Please settle for my condolences. An overdose of coumadin and lovenox can kill absolutely everyone. i'm questioning if the health center became heavily monitoring your grandmother's PT/INR, and PTT. Coumadin and lovenox skinny the blood- both have distinct moves, yet coumadin more effective importantly must be heavily monitored. If the INR is too intense, sufferers can bleed everywhere- regularly internally. inspite of the actual undeniable actuality that diet ok is the antidote for coumadin- clean frozen plasma is likewise helpful. i'm also questioning the clarification for your grandmother's death- did she have a CT experiment of her chest and abdomen- this exceedingly a lot appears like an acute aortic aneurysm, inspite of the actual undeniable actuality that if the INR stages were no longer monitored heavily, per chance she had an ulcer that became bleeding uncontrollably. i'd question the health center's care, particularly if the INR became truly intense. Please acquire a replica of her chart. The INR isn't meant to be more effective than 3. She might want to were on some variety of blood thinner if she's had coronary heart valve substitute, yet often times they positioned human beings on more effective to reduce probabilities of blood clots in those who're mattress certain d/t ailment or if each body is overweight. Her bleeding is a possiblility, yet I nonetheless would look on the chart to work out what became occurring- there nonetheless are opportunities for blunders through the health center you also said surgical procedure - what variety of surgical procedure? She would have died from issues from that -

Get to your doctor. A Coumadin overdose can cause bleeding that could be really damaging but it is relatively common for people to take a double dose by accident and not have any ill effects from it. If it was just an accidental extra dose I would just keep an eye out for easy bruising and be careful not to cut yourself because it may be hard to get the bleeding stopped while the extra dose is still in your system. If it was an extreme overdose like you accidentally took more than just a double dose then I would call the emergency room and speak to a triage nurse and tell them exactly what happened and they will advise you what to do.

Anecdote For Heparin

COUMADIN therapy and if necessary, by administration of oral or parenteral vitamin K1 . (Please see recommendations accompanying vitamin K1 preparations prior to use.)

Such use of vitamin K1 reduces response to subsequent COUMADIN therapy. Patients may return to a pretreatment thrombotic status following the rapid reversal of a prolonged PT/INR. Resumption of COUMADIN (Warfarin Sodium) administration reverses the effect of vitamin K, and a therapeutic PT/INR can again be obtained by careful dosage adjustment. If rapid anticoagulation is indicated, heparin may be preferable for initial therapy.

Vitamin K. But, if you think you have overdosed on coumadin, you should go to the E.R. immediately. there are different dosages of vitamin k depending on what your ptt is. (pro-thrombin time)
If your PTT is too low, you could cause a clot to form and move through your body. I had a stroke because of this.
If your PTT is too high, you could have spontaneous bleeding. I had spontaneous bleeding on the brain because of this which caused me to have a seizure.
PLEASE PLEASE see a doctor if you think you have overdosed.

I am on blood thinners. Have been for about 14 years. No anecdote. Call your Dr. ASAP and ask what he wants you to do about adjusting your dosage. Chances are you will need to have a PT lab done.
