Everything changes when you actually try it, not necessarily just once. The feeling of being horny is more intense once you start doing it for real, now you know exactly how it feels and what you are yearning for. Once you start having sex you learn what is it that you really want from the opposite sex (or whatever sex you prefer). Some people say they can tell when the girl lost her virginity - she starts relating to the world differently. So, I think definitely, the feeling is not as intense before you get a chance to try it!
