inlaws not allow her to wean. she is in trouble. what she do?

She should stop breastfeeding her kid, 3 years is way too old. And if her in laws and husband force her then she is an abusive relationship and she should pack the kid and get out. I know that's easier said then done but believe me, if they have this much power over her, it wont stop at this. She has to be able to make her own decisions and they should respect that. She should do some research about how long a child should be breastfed and when it starts to become harmful for her and for the child.Then give it to her inlaws and husband. but in the long run she needs to stand up for her self and say I am not doing this anymore...its her body and her child they have absolutely no say in it. A child only needs to be breastfed for 6 months after that the breast milk is pretty much just milk it doesn't have any other nutrients that a regular formula would have. Plus her child shouldn't even be on formula anymore and should be on solid foods and regular liquids. 3 yrs old is waaayy too old to be breastfeeding.

I don't know where your sister lives, but she needs to talk to a lawyer about this problem. 3 years old is WAY TOO OLD to be breastfeeding. This really sounds weird that her husband AND her in-laws seem to be controlling her life. She needs to get out of the situation just as soon as she possibly can. Hope this helps.

It is her body! She should be able to stop breastfeeding if she wants. What will the boy miss if she stops??? This is a crazy situation. She should not have married into such a controlling family - Perfect Hindsight...LOL.
Maybe she should rub something sour on her breasts so her family can see her trying to breastfeed the child but he won't like the taste and stops.

your kidding 3 years old and still on the breast,,that's a decision that only the mother can make not the father or the in laws. its none of the in laws business...and if the father is making her then that's because hes listening to the in laws..put a stop to it now... a baby is weened from a bottle at 1 years of age and sometimes before not usually after..unless health problems or eating problems

for one thing, this is not her inlaw's baby, nor do they have say so. she needs to explain that after the first year..the child has no need at all for breast milk, and doesn't need to breast feed to bond either..there are other ways and breast feeding at this age will cause buck teeth and keep him from developing independence. it's more unhealthy than healthy

There are oviously some fundamental differences in what they all believe. Tell her to go to her doctor. he can give her some meds to stop the milk.
Then, she should take her child and get away from the nutty family

3 years old is way to old to be breast fed, curious to the nationality of the in laws. If it,s really bad for her she should seek help fast, wish her my luck.

perhaps take your sister to a doctor and get his advise perhaps he can mediate between the family re the breast feeding from a medical point of view.

It's her body and a 3yr old too old to still be getting breastfed. She should stop no matter what they say!
