Many of the B-vitamins are adversely affected by alcohol. Vitamin B1 (Thiamine) and Folate (another B vitamin) are seriously impacted by alcohol. B1 deficiency in alcoholism leads to a psychosis called Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome. Folate deficiency from alcoholism causes anemia, increased cancer risks, increased heart disease risks, and a whole lot more stuff.
