Long term effects? No. Not really.

Short term effects of long term use may include reduced anxiety and depression or increased anxiety and depression. It really depends on the person. Some persons may find that smoking pot is so enjoyable that they lose motivation to do anything else, but in my experiance that's not likely for most people. Same with pot addiction very unlikely! Alcohol is more dangerous and addicting than pot and many many people drink without becoming alcoholics.

There is a possible corelation between marajuana and an onset of schizophrenia, but this is in people who are already predisposed to mental illness and might develop it anyways.

Are you not old enough to remember the old advertisements that say "This is your brain. This is your brain on drugs?" If not, you might want to do some Internet searches and check them out.
