my husband and i are going to try a few cycles of artificial insemination: if that doesn't work we will move on to invitro fertilization. can anyone tell me what kind of luck they had with either procedure and how long it took? my husband and i are seeing an endocronologist, we have had ALL of the tests done... i'm the one with the problem, poly-cystic ovarian syndrom... so we are pretty much forced to go this route...

If you really want children in your life, adopt some!

There are plenty of children (already born) out there that could use a family.

Is it really so important to pass your genes along, just to prove to yourselves that you can have babies?

Mammals, Birds, Fishes, Lizards, and Insects have babies, too.

But this is just a breeding instinct, and they don't have to go around handing out cigars, because they did anything special.

Time to grow up, and get a grip on real life.

I don't know the costs involved, but invitro sounds like less steps to a baby and a safer bet. If the cost of insemination is less than a third the cost of invitro, try it. But if its more than a third, and its alot of money to you, I'd skip straight to invitro. You might get 2-4 babies all in one hit, but at least you'ld get your babies!

And boo to the vasectomy guy. That was very rude and uncalled for. I have 3 children, want a 4th and refuse to limit my family size just because third world countries have population explosions! If I can afford my kids, I'm having them!

In Artificial semination you have take the seman from the best bull in order to impregnate the various cows in the herd so you can get a higher quality of beef or milk cow or even resistant to diseases. This way the bull doesn't have to be transported all over the state. Ranchers and farmers have been doing that for years. In vitro the med lab take the egg and sperm puts it in a petrie dish and looks for genetic qualities that the parents want in order to get the perfect baby.. it is not moral but they couldn't do it otherwise. Cause no matter how much you check on a person you wouldn't know what qualities they would contribute in making a baby.

I have a friend who is trying to be a surrogate for a family. She has had IVF 3 times, and gotten pregnant everytime. I think statistically there is an 80% success rate when 2 eggs are implanted.

If you are poly-cystic OV, then I would go with the Invitro, because they put it in your UT and it does not have to travel the tubes.

why are you doing this????Maybe is not time for you guys to have children right now???Things happen for a reason and should never be force. when you are ready God will send you a child if it's meant to be!!!Stop forcing the situation. trust me latter on you will know why it has not happened or why it shouldn't have happened.
