Is it against any religion to get a tattoo?
I have heard it is against the Jewish religion, but what about the rest of them?

it is forbidden in the Torah, Jewish Law.

Christians are not bound to this but Tattoos can have bad effects even though they are minimal. not to mention permanent. what ever you get you better make sure you'll love it when your 40, 50,60 or when your gran-kids ask why is Micky________?

I'm christian and I personally feel that there is nothing wrong with getting a tattoo. Maybe the fact that my family is not super religious. But they do respect the teachings of the bible, and as far as I know, the bible does not state tattoos and modifications to the body being a sin. Maybe I've overlooked as well, but the bible does say that you have to love yourself and your body. So maybe people see this as not modifying your body in any way. Therefore, no tattoos and such. But I still think it's your choice.

It depends on what denonmination the person is and their beliefs. I have not found it in the Bible where tattoos are a sin, but some Christians see it as a sin.

I say do what you feel is right and not what others think you should do.

I think some tattoos are nice. If I were such a chicken and could withstand pain, I would get Luther's Rose tattooed somewhere on me. It is touching and very symbolic to me. It reminds me of my relationship with Christ.

Is it wrong for a women to wear makeup? Count the number of people with colored hair going into church on Sunday. If you are an adult, use good taste and want a tag, go for it.
One piece of advice though. No names, unless it is yours, your children, Mom or such. And remember, just like diamonds tattoo's are forever, unless you're willing to get them removed. Ouch.

I don't think it's a SIN, persay, to get a tattoo in itself, but I think what's ON the tattoo could be what's in question. If it's something harmless, then no harm, no foul. Some of the staff at my church have tattoos.

depends on the "motive" (intention) of getting a tattoo I guess.
Cuz some people got it because they're part of a gang... or a symbol of something to do with the dark side (aka violence, evil, etc).

Other than that I think it's ok.

It actually depends on ur faith... ie ... if believe that God will curse u if u put tattoes then dont do so.... other wise... its safe since u belive that God wont do nything... keep this view in mind always... it helps a lot when u r doing sumthing naughty
